Just wanted to start some discussion on the Jason Blake spear on Crosby.
While it wasn't the worst spear I have ever seen I think it is just plain bad for the NHL to not have suspended Blake for atleast a few games. Crosby is the face of the NHL and there is no need for players to take deliberate cheap shots like that. Due to the lack of suspension, there could be another Bertuzzi incident because the league doesn't protect its stars.
i think regardless of the outcome, I do think it was a spear. at the very least he should've gotten fined. I don't know maybe he still will. But Blake has antagonized Crosby most of the season. Most of it stems from their coach Nolan who seems to be bitter for some reason. i hate the islanders...
I must say, instead of dodging yet another fight, Brendan Witt actually dropped the gloves last night when he grew a set of balls to fight Ryan Malone after Witt's clean hit on Crosby. I missed the first couple mins of last nights game, and I missed the chance to see the fight.

What happened to the good old days when some one even looked at your star player the wrong way he would have a Tie Domi, Sandy McCarthy or Georges Laraque type player jumping them. Guys like Blake use to be made accountable for their actions on the ice and didn't get to skate around doing what ever they want like little bitches the way they do in todays NHL
the players in the game today are a bunch of whimps...oveckin didnt get suspended for the hit from behind on briere so why should blake get suspened for a minor spear on crosby. dont get me wrong spears are horrible...i got speared playing hockey and i ruptured my spleen and had to sit out the season, but my point is if they arnt going to call suspensions on the stars like ovechkin for hitting from behind, then why should they call it on guys like blake.
