Regardless of anything else, that quote deserves some props. Arrested Development was one of the best shows on tv period... ever.

Pfft The Office puts Arrested Development to shame

As someone who also watches and enjoys the office (although I hear that the british version is superior), I have no problem saying that it's absolutely nothing next to Arrested Development.

AD had great writers but no marketing help and to understand half the jokes you had to have seen every episode which isn't the kind of show that usually works on TV.
I watched AD occasionally so never really got into it but my brother watched every episode and says it's one of the funniest shows ever. I love The Office however

While true, there were plenty of "inside jokes" that were made, I think part of the downfall was also that a lot of the humour was subtle and/or clever. For the most part, a lot of people just want a typical comedy with obvious jokes and a laughtrack.

Yeah which is why unfortunately Friends is considered one of the best shows ever even thought it was kind of crap. Nothing can compete with Seinfeld though.

C'mon... the guy running things is gonna comment here. C'MON

But seriously.

For me it's a 3 way tie between AD, Seinfeld and the Office (US & UK). I own almost all the seasons of each show on DVD. And they're all great. All hillarious in their own little ways.

I feared that the US version of the Office wasn't going to be any good, simply because the UK version was so good. But in retrospect, I think the US version is a tad better, and a bit more palatable for the US audience.

I can't pick which show is better, because they're all equally great comedies. Although I think as far as characters goes, Arrested Devlopment had an edge. Tobias Funke, Gob, George Michael, Buster, Michael, Uncle Oscar Bluth, etc. are equally as great as Kramer, George, Elaine, Jerry, Newman, etc. . Maybe Even better.

In short... don't ask me to pick from these 3.
