Now I really don't get this deal. Pahlsson is arguably a top 3 defensive forward in the NHL, is having his best statistical season ever thus far in the NHL, and is already a very good PK specialist in the sim.
Kapanen provides pretty much no upgrade at all this year, will be a significant downgrade next year, while both are RFAs. Volkov is a nothing prospect and I doubt he ever even comes over.
A lot of deals in this league are just baffling, and yes I know that is only my opinion and every has their own reasons for making a trade.

The deal was simple for me, both players were pretty much equal I do not see how you figure one is rating up and the other down when both are basically doing the same thing. The salaries are similar as are the ages and the FHL OV which means little but.........
Why the deal was made for me is this, I am a firm believer in PC and PA stats although not spectacular Kappy presented much better quality in this area.
Pahlsson provides better DF and IT. A Fair trade off. Both are doing well in the sim and when its all said and done how good a player is doing in the NHL is irrelevant for the now but what they are doing in the league is much more relevant. Sort of a future trade off but then who knows when players are going to have a bad year...........or for that matter a career year.
aka: Bryan McCabe and Darcy Tucker
Last but not least I really am not a fan of GMs coming out in public, and throwing their opinions on every freaking deal.
It just means to me that you are cut from the same mode as a Toronto Maple Leaf fan who thinks the Leafs are going to win the cup every year they play, no matter how bad they are.

say what about modes? hmm w/e
um i dont see what the problem is with gms talking about deals. I look forward to seeing what other people think.
in my other league we have a specific thread called "Opinions on trades". A lot of people give their two cents and its done with. I think you're being a litle to sensative.
Both are doing well in the sim and when its all said and done how good a player is doing in the NHL is irrelevant for the now but what they are doing in the league is much more relevant.
Actually, I personally see it the exact opposite way. How a player is doing in the BRHL2 is meaningless to me if I'm going to be trading for him, or for that matter, if I'm going to be trading someone away. All that matters are his BRHL2 characteristics. It doesn't matter if he's got 42 goales in 25 games with another team playing with different players. If his SC is 71, the reality is that it doesn't matter how he's doing elsewhere, he's not going to do it for me on my team, and frankly shouldn't be doing it where he is anyway. Just because a player performs a certain why on team X doesn't mean he'll do the same on team Y. But his characteristics will give you a good idea of what he's capable of.
On the other hand, while how someone is doing in the NHL is indeed irrelevant for the here and now, it certainly plays into the value of his abilities next season, which in turn plays into his overall value.
