After months of courting the Predators, and Pavel Datsyuk, the Bruins finally got the deal done. Leaving the team are Steve Rucchin, high end prospect Alex Bourret, Bostons 1st round pick, and prospect Jonathon Ferland.
"We've been making offers to Dave for about a month and a half, even with Pavel's struggles in teh NHL this season, we feel he is a key member to our movement towards being a contender, and are thrilled to have him here. Losing Steve was tough as he's been nothing but a pro since we acquired him, but we had to move salary somewhere to make this work. We were very high on Alex, but he was going to have to be included to get a deal done. Our first we hope ends up as a later pick, and Ferland e liked, but we weren't going to let him stop us from acquiring a player of Pavel's quality."
Pavel couldn't be reached for comment as he was already on a plane headed to meet the Bruins team in Boston and is expected to be in teh lineup against the Canucks.
YaY my division just got a whole lot easier. That for Datsyuk? HA

yeah I think Boston wins this. Ferland is a longshot, Rucchin is UFA and with a high salary basically a throw in. Leaves Bourret and 1st round pick, sounds like not very much at all for Datsyuk.
Geez Dats was just starting to heat up too. I do however have some doubts as to whether last season was a fluke for Datsyuk. We'll see I guess once his deal runs out this year and he jumps ship via UFA. Still very good trade by Boston.

when a commish pulls such a lopsided deal with a g.m. whose team leading their division suddenly discards it's top scorer (Datsyuk has 30 pts in 34 games and is a 77 0V and only is 27 years old)... for basically a prospect and a pick?
I should add: such lopsided deals in a commish's favour, trying to make a Cup run in a cash league... is dangerous.
If Boston wins the championship and daysyuk is a big part of it when I'll have to quit.
Because the bad taste in my mouth will turn to *beep* when I think of a commish "winning" hundreds of our dollars partially as a result of a lopsided deal that took away the top scorer from a team that was a good contender.
I don't really find it much different from the countless dumb trades that have been made throughout the year. Just because it's a commish doesn't really make it any different. It's not like Bryce and the Preds' GM have some kind of under the table deal.
Ya it's bad, and the Preds get taken, but it's no worse than a lot of other deals that have gone through.

Gawd this wrecks my day.
Honnestly that is an unfair cheap shot at Bryce. He negotiated a fair deal with Nashville, neither is a cheater I just think Dave made a bad trade and your comment was TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE.
no im jus saying any close deal should be a league vote so people dont bitch
That would increase bitching ten million fold, and would probably result in some quitting as well

All the more reason to never veto any trade unless there's clear evidence of cheating. And this type of thing is certainly one of the reasons. Every trade is going to be subjectively viewed different by every GM. I don't see this being even close to such a horribly lopsided deal that some others are making it out to be. Datsyuk, unless he turns it around hugely in the NHL, is headed for a pretty decent rerate downward. Hell, even if he doesn't, so what. it's not like Nashville got a bag of pucks for him.
And most imporantatly... regardless of what anybody may try to say... every team wants to get the best deal possible that they can in any deal that they make. If a GM makes a boneheaded trade, and lives to regret it, it's his fault, and suck it up and live with it. It should be nobody's job to interfere and protect him. If he has any doubts, take more time too look it over, get some advice from someone else if you want, say no, do any number of things. Nobody's forced to make any deals.
It really is starting to feel like every time someone posts a deal in the forum there is another GM who is ready to rip it from some angle. Opinions are like *******s right? The whole notion we all have them... Well, just because you have one doesn't mean you need to show yours off. But, and here is the key to this post; if you choose to show yours off to the point of calling for a veto then realize there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. If ANY GM has legitimate concerns about the need to veto a deal then please email me directly and I will personally bring it the BOD.
Otherwise, feel free to smack talk a deal all you like but keep in mind that just about every deal that is made is likely going to be perceived to have a winner and a loser in the eyes of most of us. Its my opinion that the ability to veto a deal is not in place to make sure every deal is perfectly balanced, but rather as a safe guard against cheating and obviously bad deals.
You know what.. you all can go and cry rivers of sorrow to your loved ones.. this is totally bull**** with all this arguing over he screwed him.. veto this deal.. he said this .... that was a rude comment... please... act like a mature adult... i traded datsyuk to a guy who needed his services... i was in the playoff picture yes.. leading my division yes... but what you guys all dont know.. REMEMBER THE DRAFT>. i missed the first 3 rounds right off the bat cause of my power being off.. i tried calling Bryce to delay another day or two but he would not comply.. I LIVED WITH IT. it screwed up my team and my 50 dollars but i didnt cry about it.. I got Datsyuk and then i traded him away.... BOO HOO
I have some baby bottles if you guys want it.. and yes fine me please cause my actions are going beyond the line.. but this is got to stop the bickering between all these gm's.
