Why don't we just add a year to all the deals and put them all through NOW?
Why split the signings in half (put the SB in now, and the salary contract in during the off-season)?
If the player doesn't sign the deal till the off-season, AFTER you get playoff revenue, AFTER you get your Sponsorship payouts, why put the Signing Bonuses through now?
P.S. besides Rick, who else voted NO? they're my new best friend.

Because, you buffoon, taking the money out now ensures that a team can afford the signing bonus. It ensures that they know where they stand budget wise at all times. If they have the financial commitment, take it out now so it doesn't get lost. Also if a player signs a deal with team X who has a 5 million signing bonus, then trades him to team Y, come offseason if team Y only has 3 million in funds, then what do they have to renegotiate? (more work for us). Do they throw a stink that he was supposed to have been resigned when they acquired him (which you iknow will happen).
