Your best late pick

Who was your teams best late pick? So far for us it would probably have to be Kristopher Letang or Joe Pavelski.

I think the edge goes to Pavelski who may be on the path to winning a job beside Joe Thornton for the season!

Who else had some nice late round pick?

Not sure how late you mean but these were probably my 3 biggest steals:
Higgins in Round 8
Vrbata in Round 11
Pothier in Round 19

Edit: Just remembered Lasse Kukkonen in Round 29, traded him but got good value for a guy I got that late.

My best late pick, a guy I knew wasn't on anyone's radar when he was still around in the thirties!! was my 48th round pick goaltender Niklas Backstrom just recorded as the Wild's backup his first NHL shutout and 4th win in 4 starts with a 1.69 goals against and 0.948 save percentage. And he's just getting started.

Slava Kozlov in the 10th round given he has 26 pts in 23 NHL games.

Chris Clark in the 12th round with his 16 pts in 19 games.

Randy Robitaille in the 17th round with 13 pts in 17 games.

Ville Peltonen in the 25th round I think might become the second best pick, as he finally is getting a chance, having played only 13 games and has 6 pts, but soon as they let him play with ol friend Ollie Jokinen then he'll go upward fast I believe.

Mine would have to be Z.Michalek or Wellwood.

Got made fun of it at the time by a #%$%$#% in Atlanta, :)

Round 23 - Daniel Cleary.

Arguably my best pick of the entire draft, besides Lehtonen, Kunitz and Drury.

Drafting Backstrom in the 48th round has to be it.

I would have drafted him in the mid-20s but dicided to put him on my 40s list because - indeed - I didn't think many others had ever heard of him, let alone knew he was under contract before we even drafted, with a guarranteed-to-be-backup even if he didn't win the position (would NOT be sent down, would return to Europe). Was an excellent goalie by ALL accounts.

Was funny when a couple of g.m.s freaked at the draft, you may recall, wondering how Niklas Backstrom could be drafted!! they only having ever heard of the offensive forward by that name.

My biggest steal of the draft for sure.

Brett Hull round 42 should be in contention for this...

But seriously, Kris Letang in round 28 will be known as the steal of the draft in 2 years. Backstrom will be long gone after this NHL contract and Letang will be Pittsburghs number 1 or 2 dman racking up 60-70 pts a season.
