How is it a minor detail? Otherwise if you wanted you could wait until (instert random top prospect) gets really really good and then sign them to a minor league type deal.
I guess you don't really mind because all of your "top" prospects are already signed and wasting a year of their contracts on the farm, but some of us do care.

Because we are talking about 3 years down the road and who is forcing you to sign your top prospects? No one, if you don't want to sign them wait till next year when they get rerates and sign them at that point.

You're actually the most annoying GM Ive ever come across in a sim league. I think you are just so uneducated in the NHL that you dont understand the complexity of this topic. How about if you dont care you stay out? You'll realize what we are talking about is a very big deal in about 3 years.
I understand you're point Buffalo, but I would counter it with this arguement.
If you were to sign O'Sullivan to a 3 year deal now, he's likely to sign for close to the minimum, heck as his agent I'll make the offer right now of 550k for 3 years. So his first year as a 66ov in the minors he doesn't help your pro team at all.
Next season he likely will be on your pro roster as a very cheap 3rd-4th liner based on his 06-07 performance. During the 07-08 NHL season, he would be in the last year of his contract and be looking to renegotiate. Where do you expect his performance to be that season? We start RFA very early in our season, which generally coincides with the NHL year. So I would say that unless you think O'Sullivan goes off in teh NHL next year, and would be deserving of premium young player money, then it may be beneficial to sign him now, and project that maybe his next contract is in the area of 1.5 million for 3 years. Essentially meaning you've had O'Sullivan for 6 years at 6.15 million.
If you wait till next season to sign him, at a higher salary, because he's got a full year under his belt and would immediately be coming in as a serviceable player so lets say he signs for 3 years at 850k next season. Then hsi contract is up during the 08-09 NHL campaign, where he's hd 3 seasons of NHL duty, and is likely more apt to have established himself more. At that time will he be looking for more than 1.5 million in his next deal? Considering he's made more as a rookie, had that extra NHL year to establish himself, I would guess so.
That's the main reason I would advise signing guys now, I think in the long run, the sooner you get them on contracts, the more your managerial skills will allow you to form his contracts. Getting the default 3 year deal done ASAP, gives you more payroll and managerial flexibility in the long run IMO....

If you don't want to use up his entry deal THEN DON'T SIGN HIM!!!! It's not hard to understand, no one is twisting your arm to use a year on Kopitar or O'Sullivan or whoever this year. Wait till next year and get him for 3 yrs at 850k when he will have good ratings. Either that or sign him now for 3 yrs at 550k with 1 of the years being a low rated player on the farm.
For the record I also don't appreciate the personal attack as I've never said anything like that to you and yes I do understand the issue but it is a non-issue becaus eit is YOUR CHOICE!

I wasn't really referring to you because the rule does say: A. All prospects must be created into the BRHL if they have played over 50 NHL games - OR- if they are 23 years old or older as of June 1st, of the current year.
It seems like people always ask questions and want to change rules for no reason when most of the things are clear and make sense.

If we trade for a guy during the season, who could play on our farm team, I'm assuming he'll be included in the next day's games? For instance if I trade for Joe Blow who is a 68 OV and put him on my farm team he'll then be included in the minors?

I spent all last night creating players, tonight I have to finalize the rosters and set up the schedule. So it's taking a little longer than I anticipated. I'm going to create all the dummy players needed as well and update it all at the same time. also Eric will be creating everyone for the teams in the pros as well and that'll happen this weekend at the latest as well.
Soooo in light of this taking longer than I anticipated we likely won't start the minors until MOnday. I will accept late player creations right up until Sunday night. hopefully when a few teams see their rosters with default players they'll create guys like i had hoped.
