Sunrise, FL (AP) -- A league error has caused the Florida Panthers to likely rely on backup Curtis Sanford for the next few games.
"Yeah, it doesn't exactly make me too happy" the Florida GM commented after seeing his team lose to the Calgary Flames earlier this evening, "the lineup we sent into the league had us resting Henrik (lundqvist) because he was tired from yesterday's game. For some reason, the league decided to play him anyways."
Whether or not the goaltending change would have made a difference in today's game seems unlikely, given the Panther's scoring only 1 goal, however nobody will know for sure, and as a result of Lundqvist playing in today's game, instead of being healthy for the next game, he'll likely have to sit out for a couple of games to rest up, which is the bigger concern for the Panthers.
"My original thought was that I perhaps sent in the wrong line-up to the league, but I went back and checked what I'd faxed into the league for tonight's lineup, and they were indeed the correct lines with Curtis (Sanford) getting the start and Johan (Hedberg) coming up from the farm to play backup. It's not today's loss that upsets me, when your team only scores one goal, they're not going to win very often... it's the fact that now my top goalie is going to be out of action for a while because of this league error. The guy was already tired, and not he's on the verge of total exhaustion. In a cash league, it's just not acceptable for something like this to happen."
My lines also weren't used tonight. However that's the 1st time my lines have ever not been used. It seems as though Eric may have had to stay very very late at work and may have forgot to load them (it does take alertness to do, it's easy to mess up or forget to load them if you're not paying attention.)
Kind of sucks and maybe shouldn't happen in a cash league, but things have been very very good so far. As a former commish and member of many leagues in the past lines not being loaded can happen frequently in sim leagues.

No clue on my end, I guess we'll have to find out from Eric why they weren't used. Regardless we know its not worth anything, but the league offices do apologize to the entire Panthers organization.
Sure it sucks but I think some of you are overreacting, big deal your lines weren't used for one game, the odds are you would have lost anyways and sure your starter is a little more tired, who cares it barely affects the way he plays anyways.

I love when you say stuff like that... just like when you said that PA for defencemen doesn't matter much for anything. Makes your comments easy to dismiss...

Uhh that's pretty retarded. In the lines I sent in I had Skrastins and Rafalski as my 2nd defensive unit. The lines that were used had Rafalski and Zubov on my 2nd unit. Who scored 3 even strength points? Bobby Holik, on the other team's 2nd line. So I doubt I wouldn't have at least come out with a tie.
Not that I care that much, like I said stuff happens.

Yeah and how do you know lines match exactly? You don't no one does.

yeah my little friend, try simming different seasons with all reasonable lines you can think of, I GUARANTEE you luck is a bigger factor than the lines you use.

You look at the plus minus for that game as well as the scoring summary and you can have a pretty good idea.

So then what is the point of even playing?

Because it is a factor over a whole season but one game to whine about your lines not being used and say it's the reason you lost. How do you know Holik wouldn't have got 5 points with Zubov there? Could have been 0, could have been 5. I just think complaining about every little thing gets us no where and is just an excuse for having a bad team, if you're team is that good you'll win more often than not and over an 82 game season you'll make up for it.

Either you just like hearing yourself talk, or you didn't even read the original post I made. I flat out said that in all likelihood it wouldn't have made a difference in today's game given that I only scored one goal. But also as I mentioned, that wasn't the primary reason for the complaint. Not only did the incorrect lines result in a potential difference in today's game playing a fatigued goalie (which , yes, makes a difference), but it fatigued him even more which will result him in sitting more than he should have.
And the guy who was totally whining about having to follow the roster rules and have certain guys on his pro roster is going to try to lecture other people about complaining? Get real.

If you knew how to read you would have noticed I was referring to Columbus as well and I also said fatigued goalies make little difference and I stand by that (I know it makes one but it is WAY overrated). And the guy who won't stop talking and creates a thread about a useless complaint instead of bringing it up to Eric in private says I love hearing myself talk? you must LOVE hearing yourself talk?
This is wholeheartedly my fault here. I was managing the trades and doing manual lines when I can across a deal that had been asked to be put through after the nights sim. I actedas 2nd nature and put the deal though. Realizing my mistake I ended up closing the sim and starting over. In that process I forgot to auto-load the lines again. Since in my mind I thought they were already loaded after doing the correct trades and manual lines. In short, it's my fault the lines did not get put in last night.
Like Kent, the FLA GM. I'd like anyone who has a serious problem with what happened (such as trying to rest a goalie) to contact me, and we'll work something out.
