There is a captaincy rule in the BRHL1 that they use. But I chose not to / didn't remember in enough time to implement it. If I get an overwhelming amount of people who support the rule then I'm OK with doing it.
XVII. CAPTAINS / ALTERNATES:
1. i) Captains MUST have a LD of 75 or above prior to the additional LD points given.
2. i) Alternates MUST have a LD of 70 or above prior to the additional LD points given.
3. i) No player 24 or younger may be a captain or alternate.
4. i) When a captain or alternate is traded, another CANNOT be named and the player will keep his LD and EX boost.
5. i) Captains and assistants can be reset at the beginning of every season.
6. i) Captains get 5 additional LD points. Alternates get 2.
7. i) A replacement cannot be named due to injury, or to the player being demoted.

On the contrary, I believe it can make a signifigant impact especially in the playoffs. Besides all teams would get the same markings so whether the LD points were implemented or not it should pretty much benefit no one either way.

I don't think it should be implemented. These ratings are (supposedly) based on NHL performance from last year, so messing with them midseason based on nothing to do with the NHL makes zero sense.
I also agree that it is a waste of time and effort for the commishes for something with such a tiny impact.
