Pittsburgh GM extremely disappointed.......

Hate to say it, but this is not the type of start I had imagined when I put my team together. Unfortunately my lines were screwed for the first couple of games, but with the lines set properly, I was expecting big things from this team. In all honesty the team did not disappoint in performance as we out shot San Jose 37 - 24 which is great, but where is the scoring !!!         San Jose  1 ... Pittsburgh 0

I can only chuck it up to not enough time together as a group and credit must be given to a stellar performance from Nikolai Khabibulin. I guess that is why he is paid the big bucks in San Jose. Definately one of those he stole the game for his team performance.

Coach Paul Maurice was quoted as saying "We came out to play, which made me extremely happy, but our finish is a bit rusty right now. We have way to much talent here to be kept off the board for much longer, and once we come to grips with the system i have put in place we will be there challenging for the top of the division, I have no doubt about that at all."

As for now Pittsburgh will wait until at least the 15th game before naming the team Captain and Assistants. "What you bring to the table every game is more important than what you bring to the table only once a week. We will be however working on special teasm at our next practice going 0-6 on the power play."

Next Up we travel to Long Island to visit Hasek and the boys. Should be another gruelling goaltending battle.

You'd think. But Hasek has been a non-factor in the two wins and two losses, and Scott Niedermayer has actually been a liability with zero points a minus-3. Go figure.

It's a long season. Takes a while for some to get into the groove. Plus there are natural streaks of good and bad play, line chemistry, etc. Not to mention opponents: your Penguins have faced the unbeated San Jose and Brodeur's Phoenix, so your team's losses and goal droughts might be explained thus.
