Salary cap issues has made the St. Louis Blues unable to pay his salary and Jaromir has for-all-intensive-purposes decided to sit out the season, go to India again or back to Prague and await next season's chance to join perhaps another club.
Am I wrong or are the Isles about to lose Niedermayer unless they make a trade or put someone on waivers by their next game. Their pro payroll is at $39,462,250 and the cheapest contract they can send to the farm is 450,000 without waiving a player. That would still leave them about 12,000 over the cap. Risky situation in New York, as it looks like they will either have to waive a player or trade one of their higher priced guys.

Yep, you're wrong. The Islander pro payroll: $38,791,000
And that's with an extra player on the bench too. I'm on the ball.
And I'm sure if a g.m. ever accidentally was over the cap they would be told about it. Like the Blues g.m. was informed but did nothing about. Was it because he is AWOL? I have no idea. Maybe.
**** I was looking at salary commitment and wishfully thinking that I wanted to sign Niedermayer.

I would have drafted or traded for Jagr if I had the chance. I drafted Pronger 1st round and Niedermayer second round, 13 million, but in hindsight would love a Jagr-Niedermayer combo. I had nearly FOUR million breathing room under the cap by the end of the draft despite drafting the most expensive duo in the league by the end of round 2. I used up most of that extra cap room in recently picking up Martin Rucinsky from an L.A. team needing to get under the cap. He got Chris Clark and David Backes out of the deal so it was no loss for him. I would have provided Pronger plus prospect/pick for Jagr if the Blues was active trading to get under the cap.
BTW, blue coats, you and I could at least talk trade regarding Niedermayer midseason, if things go a certain way and all those friggin' fav prospects you robbed from me mature well I'd gladly pull a trade for them. To remind you, you stole...Carl Soderberg, Petteri Nummelin, Alexander Korolyuk, Maxim Sushinsky, and I'd also pencilled a flyer pick late for Kenny Jonsson to be in NYI again just in case he does return.

ha ha
I never said that's what the deal would look like! But some of them would have to be included. I'm sure you know that (okay not sure, no smiley given, but you were joking weren't you? yeah you were!)

Oh I forgot Korlyuk, if you're willing to take on Rafalski, let's make a deal right now ;).

The stars all need to be aligned: my islanders slump big time, making me think midseason that it's better to retool for the following season(s), and the prospects you have that I want thrive as I expect them to... then we'll talk about the possibility... but at no point is my organization looking at trading Scott and he isn't even in any negotiations talk until at least December. That's why I said initially what I said, exactly how I said it!
back to the topic....
St. Louis now has a few extra millions to sign a free agent in the off season.
