Vancouver's Preseason Report

No one knew how bad or good this Vancouver team was going to look. After 8 preseason games we got a little taste on what Vancouver could bring this upcoming season. With a 5-3 record there is alot of optimism in the Canuck clubhouse. We caught up with the GM/Owner of the Canucks and he had this to say, "We feel we can compete with any team in the BRHL2 right now and we feel we are a playoff team that can make some noise this season."

Vancouver's defense was what they expected. Holding opponents to 25 shots per game and making Antero Niitymaki's job real easy. Vancouver finished the preseson 5th in goals for and goals against.

Another surprise this pre season has been Richard Zednik. Scoring 4 goals and 8 assists in 8 preseason games. Richard Zednik came over from Atlanta along with Trevor Daley (who was later used to bring in Brett Mclean and a Wild 3rd rounder) and Atlanta's 1st rounder in 2007 for Ryan Getzlaf.

Vancouver's 2nd line was the story of the preseason. With Zednik on left wing and Derek Armstrong centering and Vladimir Orszagh on the right wing. They combined for 31 points in the 8 preseason games. The 1st line of Gagne-Straka-Jokinen(21 points) has looked good also.

The preseason is now over and let the real season begin. Lets go Canucks!!!!
