Still an awesome prospect, and he negotiated to get out out of his two year Russian commitment by agreeing to a ONE year deal.
Maybe not worth a 2nd round pick.
But even in the light of the news of his one-year delay, believe me, he wouldn't have dropped any farther than the 5th round. I would've made sure of it.
You WAIT for a superstar, you don't jump off the bandwagon.
It's not official by the way, his agent is apparently denying it. To me it'll be offcial when the Penguins or Malkin announce anything or when the season starts,
Regardless of what happens, this off-season has been the most dramatic since the fabled Jaromir Jagr trade for us Penguin fans. With the team being sold, the team that could be on the move, and whether or not Malkin comes over. This has been nothing short of an interesting summer.

Apparently Malkin's new agent said not to worry that Malkin will be in Pittsburgh this year. I wouldn't take anything on a Russian team site for granted.
it is official it was on tsn tonite. he is playing in russia and trust me he wouldnt have made it out of the third a lil early that soon in the second but still a pretty good player
NYR- I'm waiting it out until the 1st day of the NHL season. Stranger things have happened with backroom deals and whatnot. If Pittsburgh had any inteligence what so ever along with the NHL. They'd work something out to get him here ASAP. In order to save the franchise once again, interest needs to constantly be rallied along with the fact that Pittsburgh can legitimately compete on a nightly basis with other clubs with a 1-2 punch like Crosby/Malkin and the powerplay.
