it'd be awesome to check in daily and see the team be built
one round at a time is better for strategy... list picking two rounds at a time has hazards: a second and third centre, when one would have wanted a second d-man before a third centre, ahhh
and if you get that expensive guy in one round you might wanna opt for a cheaper guy in the following round, etc
one round a day allows one to make budget and positional decisions

I like one round per day but would it be possible to have a live draft for the first 2-3 rounds maybe or at least do them on the message board with time slots.
I think we should try to get it done before the end of August, and with only 2 months to do it I think an average of 1 round per day is a must, so 1 round every two days is not really viable. Maybe as we get deeper into the draft we can slow it down, for like the last 10 rounds go to every other day as other stuff gets set up. Anyways,
I voted for 1 round every dail mailed in lists, but I think we should have the first 6 or so rounds live. Pick a day and make sure everyones there, if they cant, then they should send in a list.
TO add on to that...I think there should be a choice to either send a list or draft on the board...To be honest i don't really want the person making the picks to see my list ect...If we are under the udnerstanding that we will do a round a day, then you can either check the boards frequently to see when your pick is...say an hour time slot to pick, and if you dont pick, you are skipped and you make up your pick whenever you get online if you deside not to send a list as a backup..Obviously once people pay already they are going to be committed and wont get skipped...I agree a round per day is good..get it done in 2 months...I think we should have a choice as to how we submit..
I, GM of the preds, also agree that even though sending a list will get lots of rounds done for the commishes... sometimes i just want to evaluate the draft as its going on.. for the first 10 round.. for ex.. if round 3.. there are 8 gms in a row that picks a goalie. well obviously goalies are a dime a dozen.. so I have no choice but to follow suit even though my list says. to pick a left winger.. i have to change my mind right there and then.
So perhaps the first 10 round maybe 12 rounds do it either live.. or perhaps do it via message board.. Im sure we will all co operate. Make some rules up saying 3 hours to make a pick or so. That is my input for the day. Thanks
theres a good chance the first round will be live. but if you are unable to attend, sending a list will work just fine.
I think we're going to avoid doing a draft on the message board. I've been involved in a few and they always are a disaster.
As for the Sabres' post, regarding the commish's seeing the list. It's something you have to trust us with. Bryce and I have never been ones to steal players from another team. We have ran drafts in the BRHL and have never had any complaints. We know our game plan going into a draft, and we don't change it to get a player we had forgotten about. I know you weren't making an accusation, but it's something that I felt I would explain you all the GMs.

Well, I think we can make a message board draft work for the first 10 rounds or so. If we have designated time slots of like 30 mins and they are moreso during evening hours when everyone is off work. The teams that KNOW they cant make their time slot can maybe check a few hours before there pick and just quickly do a list of 5-6 players knowing they are up soon. Id much rather have these short lists than long lists. A list of 5 players is alot easier to control who you get than a list of 15-20 players. We would have the schedule completely posted so that GMs can plan their picks. Obviously Im assuming with money being involved in this pool that GMs will be able to organize their selections and send in these short lists properly and on time.
Another idea, have a live draft at the exact same time every day at like 10:00 eastern time or something, when everyone should be home from work and their evening endeavors, and we will host a live draft on a chat room and if u cant make it it will be obvious u arent there and we will draft off your list. We are doing a round everyday anyways so i think we could just have 1 hour every night where a live draft will take place, 2 mins per pick will be the time limit for GMs who are seen as "online" on the chat room, if you arent logged in then you are assumed to not be taking part in that evenings live draft and your list will be used by a "moderator" who is running that evenings draft round.

We did this in my league, www.dynastyhockey.com, 28 team league and it worked out absolutely fantastic. You're likely going to be doing the draft by list every night around the same time, say 10 PM, so you just set up a chat room and whoever can make it there that night can pick live. Some nights you can make it, and other nights where you can't you just use a list. Awesome idea.

Blues Gm here.... I'd like to do the draft via message board or live for the first 10 rounds or so. I'd even be willing to go up to 20 rounds like that. I've spoken with Kings gm and NYR gm as well and they share my view on this. Ok thats my two cents. thanks-Chris Blues gm
