for example, if i deem heatley to be equally as good as gagne and plan to draft one or the other... Gagne is currently making $2mil and has only one year left on his deal, and I have to offer him at least 100% of his current dontract because he is above 70 OV..... that I get.
My question is does that mean i only have to offer $2mil to him at the end of the contract or presumably, I would have to offer him somewhere in the range of Heatley's $3.5mil / 3-year deal right????
I only ask because obviously if I deemed them to be equal players, I would go for Gagne if all I had to do was resign him as a RFA for $2mil/year.

Get ahold of me soon, or my players will already be dealt!
The Player Agent will likely be looking for Money for his client, as his #1 priority. Team Loyalty, Playing Time and other clauses may have an affect, but likely won't be deal breakers.
The Player Agent will be liberal in catering to your teams needs, but at the same time, he recognizes that you will have to pay for a players rights. Things will not come easily, but I doubt there being anything tragic happening with negotiations.
While looking for Money as the main objective, the Agent is "cap conscious." He won't hold you over the fire, trying to get every last penny, But he will be looking for market value of the player.
Hope that answered your question.
