That could not have worked out better for the Bruins, they get the high risk reward guy who just scores. Loved that. He Bergeron and Boyes will form a solid core for years. And fleecing Rask outta Toronto was awesome as well. Razor is weak, and despite my anti-Leafs nature, I thought Rask would be a star goalie in the NHL, now I thin kit will be in Boston. Great first day for da Bruins.
I agree, great pick by the Bruins. Kessel has all the skills to be an elite player in the league. Personally, i would have taken him over the 2-4 picks.
As for Rask, Leafs fans are pretty furious around here. The opinions are that Ferguson made the trade to protect his own job and not the Leafs long term. Personally, i think it helps both teams. It all boils down to which Raycroft shows up. If he returns to form we have a good young goalie until Pogge steps up. Boston gets a great prospect that they can develop and then if needed trade or move Toivonen for some depth up front.
I personally think Kessel was the best player available. I've seen him play college in person and he's incredible. Total bull on skates, speedy and sniper. I cant believe he lasted until 5th and the Bruins snatched him up. I agree with Bryce, Rask was a total steal. This kid is legit and no one will remember who Razor is in a few years. In the meantime we'll just watch and see what Hannu brings to the table. Kessel will win Rookie of the year if he steps in this year. My prediction. I know everyone will argue that, prediction but what is not to like about this kid. You have to admit he's NHL ready right now, I just hope they dont slow his progress down the way they did with Andy Hilbert. Hilbert should have been released upon the NHL much earlier. I've been a season ticket holder for the Providence Bruins for 14yrs and get to see lots of great young talent come through. I also watch almost all Providence College and Brown University games too and keep an eye on the college circuit.
