RE: BRHL2 first overall pick

I guess the point I was trying to make is the reason for the NHL lottery is so that teams do not know how the #1 pick will be so they have less incentive to tank, in our league, you already know what the draw is... So really it is not a lottery system...

Only this year since we started so late. But, every other year, our season finished the same time the NHL season finished so no one knew how the NHL lottery would affect our lottery.

This is 2nd straight season we knew beforehand. Last year there was a fight for the 8 spot I believe.

Yeah i already said that... last year a little bit, and especially this year it has come into effect...

If anyone knows a site that can auto-generate a lottery with the same exact odds as the NHL teams get, then I would be all for using that starting next season... but still, if we're on schedule, it works perfectly to use 2012 lottery results for our 2012 draft (using 2011 NHL draft)... because the odds are exact.

I have an Excel file that does the exact same thing as the NHL Lottery draft. It gives 14 teams the correct amount of % to be chosen from. With the press of a button, it presents the winning ball with the appropriate Team (numbered now so you can change if you want to). I hope the league would want to use it next season. I will be using it in BRHL for our draft lottery there. If anyone wants this file, let me know. I'll e-mail it to you and you can see that it's completely random.

I like the idea... either way works for me and probably everyone else...

only issue i'd have is how can we make sure it is done publicly so everyone can see so that noone can pull a Bill Simmons and claim the New York Knicks had a cooled envelope so Stern could give them Patrick Ewing.... it just eliminates any potential at all for bitterness by going off the NHL ones is why i thought we had it this way to begin with...

either way, not too big of a deal here and shocked!! this thread go so much play!

I have a justin.tv account and the software to display the window/desktop on there live.  Everyone that would want to watch the lottery draft could log on and watch it.  Hopefully some BRHL2 GMs can watch it when I do it for BRHL (whenever we get into the playoffs there) to see how it'll be done.

Thanks again for this reminder, Gentlemen. Since this thread was created, my Lightning have played 8 games.

5 wins, 3 loses (2 in the shootout) = 12 out of 16 points.

3 pts back of second last.

20 games to go.

Woo-haw!

Since this thread was created, my Lightning have played 18 games.

13 wins, 5 loses (1 OT, 2 in the shootout) = 29 out of 36 points.

9 points ahead of last place. 14 points behind 3rd last. Comfortably in 2nd last place.

Both my Lightning and Admirals are on top of the power rankings.

Cheers! biggrin
