Looks like the St. Louis Blues are in the perfect spot for 1st pick overall. after the Oilers won the draft lottery in the NHL.. teams will be looking to be 29th place overall to get that first pick.

PS i love this wrinkle in our league.. it prevents people from tanking and matching it with the current NHL winner gives some extra incentive for the lower end teams to pay attention to try and grab 2nd worst record (in this case)

i think it was even last year when I missed out on the #8 OV spot by a single point to TB... who ended up selecting 3rd OV i think... and I was paying just as much attention to my lines, etc once I realized my team could easily get to the 8th worst position to match the NHL team that won it...

ya i like it too.. looks like tampa's tanking will only get them the 2nd overall pick not first.. still they will get a great player.. just not the BEST PLAYER

 The NHL lottery is duplicated in the BRHL2.

So teams in the EDM position in the BRHL2 will win the lottery.

I'm like the newest guy here, and have no right to talk, but that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DUMB. Like there's a system lottery option, that should be used. Not this. I mean it'd be fine if the league ran on time, but now that we know the lottery results, it's just retarded. Like correct me if I read that wrong, otherwise, worst rule I've seen.

Thanks again for this reminder, Gentlemen. Since this thread was created, my Lightning have played 8 games.

5 wins, 3 loses (2 in the shootout) = 12 out of 16 points.

3 pts back of second last.

20 games to go.

You think that is dumb... What really doesn't make sense is we use the lottery draft results for the 2012 draft class, but we are picking from the 2011 draft class... I have to say the lottery rule in this league is laughable...

I understand your point, but this has less to to with the teams and the years involved because the reason we use this method is to match the same odds that the NHL Draft Lottery offers.  So since the NHL has the same odds every year, it's the reason we use the method.  

And since when we started using this, it was during the current year, we've just kept going.

And usually the sim is done to match the season roughly so we wouldnt know the results until very late in our simmed year anyways and not really affect it whatsoever..

Last year a little bit and especially this year, it does come into play because once again, we are so behind in the sims.

I guess the point I was trying to make is the reason for the NHL lottery is so that teams do not know how the #1 pick will be so they have less incentive to tank, in our league, you already know what the draw is... So really it is not a lottery system...
