Just wondering whether ages are now based on age at a particular date. The reason I ask is because in September Scottie Upshall was listed as being 27 years old (last year he was 25), but in the last week or so I noticed he is now 28 years old. His birthday is Oct. 7, so I am wondering whether he aged by a year on that day.
That would mean that in the off-season when his contract expires, he'd still be an RFA and his age won't jump to 29 until Oct. 7, 2012.
Confirmation would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I meant to reply to this earlier. And, I'm not a league authority but we did have this issue in another league I'm in. The players actually aged on their real life birthdays. Now, it's kind of cool it does that but, for fantasy purposes, I think it's a pain in the ass. In my opinion, it will be too hard to track all these age changes, especially when we are making offers to our RFA's. What we did in my other league was give every player the same birthday (I believe it was June or July 1st, roughly) so that everyone aged one year during the offseason, like we were accustomed to with Version 1 and the old FHL simulator. However, I don't know what can be done here, we'll have to wait to hear from the higher ups

To further this, I'm going to keep an eye on Chris Butler (he's on my team by the way). Now, he was born on Oct. 27, 1986. So, his birthday is this upcoming Thursday. He's currently listed as being 24 years old so, I bet, come Thursday (or the first sim update past that day), he will be 25 years old.
Check the Transactions link, there was some time setting change. Although it does not affect ages the message board time was also changed some time ago after UFA started.

OK, I see that. So, my next question is, why is July 1, 2012 used as the date? Shouldn't it be July 1st, 2011?

Good eye. Eric must be tinkering with the new STHS. I am sure it will all be resolved.

Don't like to pass the buck, but I will have to wait for Eric to chime in on this. I'm not sure what has been done. Needless to say the v2 migration has been painful. But I am confident it will all be worth it. This offseason has been trying and given all the issues, the timing was horrid. But, as I have said to everyone, if it affects anyones RFA status where they're UFA at the end, we will ensure to close those gaps.
what has happened is the age's of all players have moved ahead a year,, thus nullifying any 5 year deal signed on guys that leaves them 27 with 1 year left and thus rfa again..
every single player needs to age back a year i believe.

Every player is ahead one year.. everyone who has been previously signed (the past 3-4 years) who would have ended 27yr's old and 1 year on deal = them being RFA are now going to end up 28years old with 1 year on deal's and UFA's..
a small Ex- is Taylor Hall he is 20 in the sim already and we are based off a year behind. and he isnt even 20 yet in real life..
What im saying is what calgary kevin was trying to say,,, that everyone is aged ahead 1 year accidently.. and it puts everyone's rfa's who would end at 27 and rfa. to being 28 and ufa..
