Didn't want to do this on the board, can I get a ruling on this offer

A. Sutton

Blackhawks offer $825,000 for 2 year(s); $825,000 SB

Total yearly salary = $1,237,500

Wild offered = 1,050,000

This offer is not 200K over the previous offer, has the time period ended and am I the successful bid. :)

Thanks.

That is a bull**** way to get a free agent. Waiting until after the time has elapsed to point out the highest offer is invalid when you have the second highest bid is bush-league. If someone makes an error in their offer, it should be up to the league to catch it and if it is caught later on then the time for bidding should be extended. Obviously the highest bidder isn't going to offer more for a guy they think they already had. It is also not fair that they are using 1 of their 5 bids up for a guy they think they are leading in which is preventing them for going after someone else with that money as well.

Just to let you know the guy bidding Dave is a good friend of mine and I purposely sent this before the time limit expired as that is when I caught it, to give him a chance at the bidding... However, IMO it is the GM's responsibility to get the offer right and not for the commishes to monitor every UFA offer out there. Buyer beware but if I see it i will let the other GM know, others may not and personally there is nothing wrong with that...

My two cents

Agreed. I'm sure Eric and Bryce have enough on their plate and they don't want to be babysitting GM's through the entire free agent process.

And as the guy seemingly "wronged" in this situation... I'd hold no ill will towards Derek or would towards any other GM for that matter who would have waited... we're all competing for assets and it was my poor attention that detail that would have caused me to lose out.

I would have just called Derek the bastard that he is, and moved on... and made him buy the first beer at the Grey Cup

Sorry, Richard but if you don't know what you're doing, just ask. Don't be pissy beacuse nobody went out of their way to guide you. You want to bid, be sure you know what you're doing. Chances are, the folks who have paid their dues and who we're competing with already know.

Don't blame the league, accept the error and move on with experience.

I wasn't in on the bidding at all for that player, nor care in any way...just an observation. You know me better then that Steven. I have a reason to be pissy however but will deal with it behind closed doors if need be( or not because the outcome won't be affected either way).

LOL... i am pretty sure that Selanne at 7 mil looks pretty good compared to a bunch of these other deals now.

5.5 mil for Hejduk?? This is 2011-2012 not 2001-2002!!
Ditto for Gomez.

And St.Louis as the most expensive forward in the league?? Whatever floats your boat! Although Florida is probably on the outside looking in on the playoffs without him.

I really think at the end of the season we are going to once again see that all teams that try and BUILD up assets through UFA (im looking at you Mtl and Pho) will continue to be outside the playoffs or just in.... which is a huge detriment to the long term success of a franchise. Whereas a team like TB that made some bad offers last year, still only managed to finish bottom 10 and learned from his mistakes... now he is in position to compete for RNH or Landeskog next year.. which is much better for a team than barely making the playoffs with a bunch of overpriced, old, UFA targets.

Proven time and time again.

Also big ups to NYR, who managed to get Gudbranson and M.Staal off of me for Rinne, and then signed Bryzgalov to replace Rinne.... thats the way to use UFA to your advantage... not at 6 positions, but 1 targeted selection... well done... i feel abused ;)
