Does a player have to have been with their team for a full year in order for that team to get the loyalty bonus? I don't remember that being the case and I don't see it in the rules, but it was stated in the Free Agency e-mail that was sent out.
This was definitely not a rule. The only thing that required the entire year was Franchise tags. I know I traded at the deadline for player(s) because of loyalty bonus.
I was under the impression the entire reason we have "LOYALTY" bonuses for FA's is to reward us to keep players who have been with us for a long time (minimum 1 yr).
Otherwise why would it be called a "LOYALTY" bonus???? Loyalty to guys you picked up 20-25 games ago??? MAKES NO SENSE TO ME

Then I'd take it to the Commish to decide. Bryce traded me a player this trade deadline because of the loyalty bonus that came with the deal. There was never a requirement for loyalty bonus other than being with that team at the end of the year.
What "LOYALTY" should be showed to a player picked up 15-20 games ago though????
The entire reason we created the "loyalty" bonus is so that long standing players of a team would be rewarded with 10% less of the contract counting against the cap.

It doesn't matter what anyone's opinion is about loyalty...if a player was traded and won the Stanley Cup, don't you think they may wanna stick around (eg. Guerin)??? The rules were in place, and as of now, there is no rule stating they must be with the team for the whole season.
