The Flames came to the draft loaded with picks and they managed to add eleven prospects to the fold on the first day of the draft. And, as of right now, the second day of the draft looks to be even more busy for the Flames, as they hold 17 picks from Rounds 4 to 7. Here's a look at who the Flames drafted in the first three rounds:
15th overall - Evgeny Kuznetsov (C)
17th overall - Charlie Coyle (C/RW)
26th overall - Emerson Etem (RW)
34th overall - Justin Faulk (D)
43rd overall - Devante Smith-Pelley (RW)
46th overall - Riley Sheahan (C)
60th overall - Calvin Pickard (G)
65th overall - Ryan Martindale (C)
74th overall - Mark Alt (D)
86th overall - Julian Melchiori (D)
87th overall - John Klingberg (D)
"We were ecstatic that Kuznetsov was still on the board at 15. We had him as a top 10 pick so we didn't think we had a chance to land him. But, to have him fall in our laps at 15 just made our draft that much better. He's a dynamic player and we are very happy to have him. Overall, we are extremely happy with how the first day of the draft went."
