In a HUGE deal that shakes up the division as well as the Eastern conference playoff race (i hope, lol) Philadelphia GM Rex Leak has struck a major deal with new New York Rangers GM Andrew Wright.

Coming to Philly are Pekka Rinne and his newly minted 5 year $4.285 mil / year contract as well as NYR 1st and 2nd round picks (#26, #56). Also bringing his unwavering hand and unbelievable results to Philly is head coach Paul Maurice, who will need to be given an extension on his deal, which is something GM Rex Leak expects to go very smoothly.

Heading to the division rival New York Rangers is Head Coach Ken Hitch****, young cornerstone dman Marc Staal, Phi 1st Yr 6 (#9 OV), Phi 1st Yr 7, Ana 7th Yr 6, and Prospects Ethan Werek, Alex Hutchings, Brian Pitton.

GM Rex Leak had this to say: I initially danced around doing a 2-1 of assets with Marc Staal and the #9 pick for Rinne, but once Andrew was adamant about a dynamic 2-1 young assets for Rinne, he sweetened it for me by giving me #26 in this draft for my 1st next year (praying it will be that low! hehe) and making that unease go away by adding #52 for Ethan Werek (i believe almost identical draft slot last year when i took him in late 2nd). Then I helped him feel good about the deal by adding a few prospects I didn't have an organizational need for in G Brian Pitton and C Alex Hutchings as well as a 7th round pick (breaking a cardinal rule I have about never just adding late picks for no reason). 

After much debating, this deal was struck with a clear vision in mind for 2 franchises... NYR rebuilding with elite young talent and Philly filling the gaping hole in net behind such a talented D. Both teams feel confident going forward that their teams futures are brighter.
