To start off we would like to say congrats to the Presidents Trophy winning Buffalo Sabres and their G.M Luke Wile they had a amazing season again winning the top team in the league for the second year. It isnt likely anyone will be able to dethrone him in the coming years either during the regular season with the talent level packed onto his team.

In what ended up being a dominant series by Ryan Miller the Thrashers eliminated the Sabres for the 2nd year in a row and the 3rd time in the last 4 years in the Eastern Conference Finals. 

Game 1 in Buffalo it saw the Thrashers Ales Hemsky pot the winner with under a minute to play in the 3rd. It stood up as the only goal of the game as Miller had a shutout. The game was highlighted with a line brawl which set the tone for a physical series.

Game 2 in Buffalo saw Atlanta play a dominant road game and win 4-0 with Miller going back to back shutouts in his old stomping grounds in Buffalo.. Tavares and Knuble each had two points in the effort, the game was again highlighted by a line brawl showing the true hatred between the two squads on the ice. 

Game 3 back in Atlanta saw the home team dominate 7-1 and the Thrashers take a stranglehold on the series up 3-0.

Game 4 in Atlanta was a tight battle that went to overtime where yet another line brawl broke out early in the OT, the 4-3 winner was scored by John Tavares with assists to Martin Hanzal and Jakub Voracek.. 

With the clean sweep of the Presidents trophy winners many thought the team would be confident or even over confident but after the game the teams leader and series MVP Ryan Miller had this to say, "We havent really won anything yet we need to win 4 out of our next 7 games and we will have something to brag about, right now this is only Buffalo and with the two G.M's in place we feel good about matching up with Buffalo whenever we see them. Not knowing much about either squad we are going to face from the West makes the finals a much much bigger challenge."
