Please forgive me guys for butting in, but if anyone can get a hold of Bryce, or even Eric, I may be able to help out, I am willing to offer up hosting on my server to Bryce if he gets in contact with me.
I have a vested interest in helping out as I am a lifetime subscriber to BRHL rates and would like to see my investment (albeit a small one) protected.
I have emailed Eric (if the email address on the STHS forums is correct) and have had no response.
We can indeed get him a temp site up and running within minutes while the balance of his backups are being restored, so if either one of them could contact me at commish@ofhsl.ca we may be able to get them back up and running
Thanks guys
I return you to your regularly scheduled argument :)

Sorry... but it really doesn't seem hard to throw together a makeship site to finish out the season. I've seen leagues fall behind like this before and it's not good. Now the summer is set to be a cluster**** of **** to do. Next thing you know, you START seasons in December/January... interest falls off and eventually it dies or is still run but it feels like everyone is "going through the motions".
First of all Trevor, you are one of the LAST GMs to join this league, so maybe if you had been around longer, you wouldn't have these concerns ROOKIE...
Have you considered sending eric or bryce an email message??? I know that Bryce is in the process of moving his family and career from Edmonton to Denver... so yeah my guess is he's probably swamped...
And since a "makeshift site" is so easy to throw together, get on the phone with Eric and do it yourself you ignorant prick.
As everyone who has been in this league knows, Eric and Bryce are both standup guys and noone is going to be out a single dollar when all is said and done...
From what I understand, this is what has been happening: Godaddy demanded a nearly 300% increase on the cost of the site, so Eric has been trying to find a website host that is willing to do it to us for free considering all the traffic we produce (so more $ comes back to all of us at the end of the season)... He thought it was handled 2 weeks ago and the whole process was going well until there were some very significant issues moving specific pages and features to that new site... as of right now, I believe he is in the process of deciding whether to change the payout formula for next season to pay for the Godaddy site, or trying to find a cheaper alternative...
I have no idea what goes into the process, but I do know that it doesnt just take a few hours or even a few days to do all this... NOT TO MENTION that its summertime and people are finally outside enjoying themselves and have a lot less time to spend on fantasy hockey...
What would be the downside to our season finishing with 2 days simmed every day in late August/early September?? Then we'd have PLENTY of time to do UFA/RFA (went on waaay to long last summer, many ways to shorten that up) and a preseason before starting in October like we normally do... instead of having our downtime from July-September this year, we are having our downtime in May-August.... which, IMO, is NOT A BIG DEAL...
Again, I have no direct knowledge of any of this, and I would like to see an update as well from Bryce or Eric... but they are obviously very busy..
RELAX
So because this is my 1st year in the prestegious "pay league", I cannot voice my opinions? The REASON I wanted to join this league was because I was under the impression there was very little BS admin wise. Dates are set, communication/activity is high and people are committed to their teams. This situation has been handled poorly and I'm voicing my opinion. I really don't think Im out of line here.
So... now I have been called a "whinny prick" and an "ignorant prick" because I was the only one willing to say something after 7 weeks of nothing besides a "should be up in a couple days.
As you stated yourself... People go away in the summer. This makes getting back even harder in my opinion. Your magical "schedule" has not been discussed at all. I know it suggests is that a bunch of double sims be done while my team is in the hunt for the conference championship and I would like to send in lines for each game. Obviously that cannot be done with your magical schedule.
This time frame will mean teams have very little, if any time to restucture their teams. This off-season was going to be a busy one for the Blues. But now it looks like we will have no time to
It's funny... I had a feeling you would make an appearence after that post. You sure love to berate other people. Honestly... what is your problem with me? This is now the 3rd time you have stuck your head in to either call me a name or tell me how bad I am. Do you just like being a dick over the internet or something?
- My trade for Klein at the start of the season. - Trade deadline chatroom you berated me. - Here I'm an ignorant prick.
NONE OF THESE SITUATIONS HAVE EVER INVOLVED THE FLYERS!!!
To the other GMs: - I'm going to defend myself when I think someone is out of line with me. I will not insult anyone until you have come at me. - No beef with any other GMs. Everyone else has been professional. - My "scammed" thing may have come off harsh. Knowing Bryce and the BRHL for so long I don't think it's a scam... but if someone was new to the scene they may think so given the situation.
While I understand that Bryce is busy moving house, although I had no idea until coming back to this forum and reading about it. I am a little disappointed about the lack of communication from the commishes to the rest of the league.
I know it's a volunteer position and they're performing a task that benefits the rest of us, but I haven't heard much about the progress (if any) from either Eric or Bryce. Eric said on June 21st that the site would "have something" by June 25th. It is now July 5th and there hasn't been anything for a new site.
I would just appreciate a brief email every week saying what problems are present and the progress made. Just gives me the belief that there's something being done during the week.
To the other GMs: - My "scammed" thing may have come off harsh. Knowing Bryce and the BRHL for so long I don't think it's a scam... but if someone was new to the scene they may think so given the situation.
all i was trying to do with my post is show that it probably wasnt needed to say u felt "scammed", im assuming u feel the same about making the statement now.
if anyone has been in the league for a month, they realize how much this league means to eric and understand he obviously is working all out to get things back going..
1. As many of you know I am moving to Denver in about 2 weeks time, to say I havent paid attention to really anything for 2 months due to all the hassles with a cross border move. A family situation, and the fact that the wife has been in the hospital for a bit, and I have been playing Mr. Mom for a bit.
2. Noone has been scammed, the money is still in the paypal account, though I do not begrudge those that have had concerns. I haven't been plugged in as much by Eric either, but the technie stuff I have no idea on, and he knows that. Last update was yesterday saying he hoped to have everything up tonight. He has all the background stuff done, just a few tweaks with the main pages and sata uploads.
3. Again, we apologize for this delay, it has been less than ideal for everyone, but anyonewho has had their fingers in running the leagues know how terrible godaddy was. this was a necessary change, though noone thought it would take anything remotely close to this long.
4. If someone coudl post this to the BRHL board I would appreciate it.
5. Should you have any specific concerns that I can answere please email me at my brhlhockey account, which is now working after a month down. I havent read the thread here, nor do I have time to right now. We love you all, (and Im on facebook now so hit me up!. Things should be back to normal soon.
1. Kirk and Rex, shutup 2. My apologies for not being clear with everyone, that is something we pride ourselves on and we have undoubtedly failed in this regard. 3. Haven't gotten a latest update yet, but things are up and minor tweaks being done to finalize 4. Teams will have plenty of time. Rex did mention the difference in downtimes and a concrete schedule will be out as soon as we are up and running. 5. Thanks for sticking with us through this, you have been, and will be rewarded in the future with a reliable and well ran league.
