During a stretch which has seen the Thrashers run a streak to 9 straight wins the team's G.M still felt the need to make adjustments to his lineup.
The first deal saw all-star calibre players exchanged between the Thrashers and the Ducks. Going to Anaheim is stellar D-man Luke Schenn and feisty forward Max Pacorietty go to the California coast. In return the Thrashers brought in a top notch forward in Jakub Voracek and high end puck moving d-man in K.Shattenkirk. Also coming to Atlanta is a prospect Thrasher's management is very high on in Taylor Doherty, along with a 5th round pick..
The Second deal saw Jan Hejda leave Atlanta heading back to Chicago where he started the season. In return the Thrashers got a solid young prospect in Z.Hamill along with a 3rd and 7th round draft pick..
The third deal saw the Thrashers land vetern tough guy Colin White to their blueline along with some cash for a 5th pick in the upcoming draft.
Coming to Atlanta- Voracek, Shattenkirk, C.White (ufa) , T.Doherty, Z.Hamill, Chi 3rd, Chi 7th.
The teams G.M Kirk Shuck had this to say about the flurry of deals, "We feel the only way we could have moved Schenn was to bring in a couple kids we feel have elite potential in Voracek and Shattenkirk. A piece we are intrigued by in the deal is Taylor Doherty the kids is 6'8, 230lbs and has put up very respectable offensive numbers in the OHL and is a kid we feel the Sharks might rush along as they currently dont have alot of size on their backend and Doherty can definately fix that.. In swapping Hejda out and bringing in a warrior like C.White while picking up a solid young player in Hamill who just about to crack the NHL along with a 3rd-7th was something we felt great about as we think White will be a better asset come playoff time anyhow."
With the deadline close its very likely the Thrashers will again be one of the more active teams again at this years trade deadline.
