It has been brought to my attention that Ruutuu last year was listed as 26 with 2 years left.  Now he is listed as 28 with 1 year left, so he should still be an RFA at the end of his current contract.

How is the league handling cases like this? Will he still be an RFA after this season? If so, how will it be tracked?

More info in this thread, although we are still waiting on a word back from Bryce and Eric regarding whether these few instances per team will just be RFA's at 28 yrs old (IMO, by far the fairest option, as all those contracts were signed within the rules and therefore shouldn't change because of a procedural issue)

I am surprised a cash league was going with inaccurate ages. I only see unhappy GMs or GMs being unhappy when a change is made. At a most inopportune time contract wise.

Didn't one GM see that at some point an issue would arise?

That is one of the things I look at on a player and it makes me uneasy when I look at the time left on there contracts.

Well, we weren't going with inaccurate ages since we were always runnng a year behind.

Yes, that would be true Kevin.

Edit:

smileI had an impression it was only the draft.

Signed before end of last season.  Needs to be adjusted to reflect 2 year jump in age.

This should have been an add-on to his current contract, not a new contract, as per the posting:

http://brhl2.activeboard.com/t45180405/important-status-notifications-alerts-etc/

"Players who are 28+ and expire this year, should have been RFA at end of deal will have their teams do their RFA deals now, and they will be tacked onto the current year total. STHS tracks this easily for us. Affected players are

Steve Weiss (Bos)
Jordan Tootoo (Mon)
Tom Gilbert (NJ)
Marcel Goc (NJ)
Carlo Coliacovo (NJ)
Chris Thorburn (Cal)
Curtis McElhiney (Cal)
Adam Burish (Cal)
Kyle Wellwood (LA)
Eric Nystrom (TB)
Tuomu Ruutu (NYR)
Shaone Morrison (Det)
Ilja Kovalchuk (Det)
Anti Niemi (Min)

All other contract issues should be fixed when we update tonight. "

Per previous post, A. Neimi contract is now right for his next four year contract, however, he should be listed at 1 yr, 550,000 for this year... Then his new four extension starts...

Thanks,
