2011 RFA Guidelines + Signings

Please read entirely before doing anything.

RFA Signing is now open.

GUIDELINES

1. A player may not be resigned as an RFA while on his NHL entry level deal, in that case he will wait until he signs a new deal in the NHL before his BRHL2 contract is renegotiated via arbitration, anew deal, or an RFA offer.

2. In the scenario where a player is up for his BRHL2 contract and the season begins before he has resigned in the NHL, he will sign a 1 year deal, based on his ASSUMED NHL SALARY. (Only applicable to NHL players on their ELC)

3. To avoid teams locking all players up to long-term deals, they may only sign RFA's per season to 5 and 4 year deals. To clarify, that's two 5-year and two 4-year contracts, respectively.

4. Teams may only pre-sign 4 players per team as RFA's during the season. The rest will negotiate in the off-season, to allow themselves to possibly be slotted with a new deal in the NHL.

5. Signing Bonuses can account for 10% of the annual salary, and is not charged against the cap.

6. RFA qualifying rights are a thing of the past, you automatically maintain the qualifying rights for your players. If you choose not to sign them based on their contract value on the spreadsheet, they will test the RFA waters as normal.

7. Stupidity/Laziness is no longer an excuse. If you are not using the average cap hit for the contract based on nhlscap.com or capgeek.com you will be fined for submitting invalid RFA offers. On the excel sheet, make sure you note the length of the contract you are offering.

8. RFA Calculator can be found from the BRHL2 Portal Main Page. Transactions -> RFA CALCULATOR

9. Just as last year, if a player has signed an extension in the NHL, the salary figures from that deal are to be used as the base salary.
10. Player age, add one year to their current BRHL2 age.
11. Send all offers with the excel sheet attachment to brhl2@brhlhockey.com. Please include your team name in the subject.

12. I will add confirmed deals below. Please do not add them yourself.

13. I will get to the offers a couple times a week. It all depends on my time. Please be patient for my response. As long as the information is correct, assume that the contract you have offered will be accepted.

14. Players traded who have signed RFA contract extensions will see those contracts carry over to their new team. However, the signing bonus will not.

Some questions you might have were answered in the previous years here: http://brhl2.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=85830&p=3&topicID=25249724

Does this apply to all RFAs signed between now and the start of next season, or only pre-signings?  For example, if I pre-sign 4 players to 4 and 5 year deals and have 10 guys left to sign, can I only sign those remaining 10 players to deals of 3 years or less?

It involves your current players between now and the start of next season. Only two 4 & 5 year contracts per team for RFA signings. The rest will have to be any amount of 1, 2 or 3 year contracts.

How do we qualify a player?  Aren't they automatically qualified if they are an RFA?

For some reason, I thought I was caught up on my RFA signings. But, as I just realized, I have quite a few guys left to re-sign. I'll try and get them in later tonight.
