Head Coaches

E-mails have been sent out to GMs who had a coach on the final year of their contract last year. GMs have until Wednesday night at 8PM EST to notify the league if they are interested in re-signing their coach or not.

If a GM choses to re-sign their coach, they will be presented with 2-3 contract offers of varying lengths and amount. They are only allowed two counter offers. During this time, the coach's rights will be retained by the team. If they fail to reach an agreement, the coach will be released into the open market.

If a GM choses not to re-sign their coach, they can either promote their farm head coach or they can sign a free agent coach.

Free Agent coaches can be found here as of Thursday 9pm EST: http://www.brhlhockey.com/brhl2/coaches.php

Coaching free agency will open Thursday 10pm EST.

Bidding on free agent coaches will work similarly to how bidding on players worked. With a few exceptions:
- Bidding window is for 24 hours. Based on the time stamp of the offer.
- Highest Salary Per Year offer than stands for 24 hours wins.
- No signing bonuses.
- Bids must be $150,000 more than the previous offer on the coach.
- Teams can only have one live bid at a time. Even if you have two vacancies.
- If you have two vacancies, please send the league an e-mail notifying which coach will be in the pro/farm.
- Leading bids as of Monday 8pm EST will be awarded the coach. I am ending coaching free agency at this time. GMs missing out on a coach due to this will have to snatch up a remaining free agent coach.
- Minimum contract offer for a pro coach is $300,000.
- Minimum contract offer for a farm coach is $150,000.

GMs with PRO coaching vacancies can approach another team to sign their farm head coach as their pro head coach. GMs will only have two opportunities to approach A farm coach for a pro head coaching position (not two chances per team, two chances total). Signing another team's farm coach results in you paying that team compensation, which would be double the yearly salary you'd be signing their coach.

- EXAMPLE: Boston has John Smith as their farm coach. NYIslanders submit their interest to sign their farm coach. The league will then provide NYIslanders 2 different contract options to sign John Smith. 1 year - $750,000 & 3 years - $1,150,000. If NYIslanders select 1 year, they would then pay Boston $1,500,000 in compensation. If NYIslanders select the 3 year option, they would then pay Boston $2,300,000 in compensation.

If your farm coach is receiving an offer from another team, you will receive an e-mail from the league notifying you. A follow-up e-mail will be sent ONLY if your coach has been signed by someone else. You will then have ability to sign a free agent coach for your farm team.

There is the chance that two teams or more could be going after the same farm head coach. In that event, it will be the first team to accept a contract offer from the league regarding that coach that will be awarded the coach. ***ALL OF THIS WILL BE DONE ON E-MAIL, DON'T CONTACT ME VIA ICQ***

GMs also have until Wednesday 8pm est to notify the league if they want to buy out any of their coaches.

Updated coaches ratings can be found: http://brhlhockey.com/brhl2/File/Season5-PreSeason/BRHL2-Coaches.html

I urge you to check your coaches ratings, as there has been a much heavier influence on what happened last season (like the player ratings) than in the previous coaches ratings. Only true oversights will be up for contention, every coach has been rated on the same system.

Except for one thing I wanted to bring up here, but can't remember what it is, this should it all. Please feel free to ask any questions, I do my best to get a prompt response.

Tom Renney of Buffalo and Paul Maurice and Boston are the only two coaches who are listed as available (on the next update) who are still in negotiations with their prior team. Please omit them unless I say otherwise.

Coaches are able to be signed. I can't figure out why Quenneville is showing up multiple times, but it appears they all work as one.

FYI, these are the ratings breakdowns:
PH - Physical Style
DF - Defense Style
OF - Offense Style
PD - Player Discipline
EX - Experience
LD - Leadership
PO - Potential (only matters in sim-rerate leagues, which we are not - so it's pointless)

I assume we will come around to signing coaches?

Are they on a time table?

I know thats one of the things Erica was getting lined up over the weekend, I would suspect an announcement and activity this week.

Please note to anyone reading that this thread is from last year., so don't panic if you havent seen anything.
