The NHL salary cap will rise to $59.4 million in the 2010-11 season.
That's a $2.6 million increase over last season. Each team must spend a minimum of $43.4 million. That's a far cry from the lockout when the 2005-05 salary cap was $39 million. The cap has far surpassed what NHL players and owners ever thought it would be, as both sides continue to make money. The NHLPA has agreed to extend the deal an extra year and now the two sides will have to re-negotiate a new deal for the 2012-13 season. Jun. 24 - 8:20 am et
