I just wanted to let you know that we have decided to part ways with you as GMs of your respective teams in the BRHL2.
There is no questioning either of your skills as GM's, but the commitment demanded from the league is seemingly too great for you, and has been for a few years. While we appreciate what you have done for your teams, we feel it is in the best interest of your squads and the league that we find new, more active GMs for the teams.
Rest assured, we will be refunding you any monies outstanding, and will wait until after the playoffs to do so in case any awards, allstar game or minor league championship, payouts are added to the final figure. Our intention is not to leave you hanging, but to make this a seemless transition.
From an operations perspective though. We will be finding new GMs ASAP, so that they can run the team as we head into free agency, the draft etc..
Thank you again for your efforts with your team and the league. I do hope that you are in agreeance, and that we can have a mutually benficial parting. Thank you for your understanding.
Wow, this came as a real suprise. The fact that i couldnt' set my lines, after numerous attemps is the reason for inactivity. I am up to date on all my RFA signings (i have asked questions regarding age and whatnot, and had planned to do them at the end of the season). I have completely rebuilt my team with a large amount of cap space, which i was planning on spending big in the off season. Absolutely no notice what so ever. How can you say that my activity has been for a few years? I would set my lines and made a large number of trades last year. This seems very illegitamite and for a league that I was very interested in , and invested in, i am shocked. I didnt join any of the WJC leagues, or Europe leagues and such, because honestly, i wasn't that interested. I would really give a second thought here.
Thank you to the commishes for handling this very tough, very emotional decision quite well this year as in years past...
Ross, no offense but you are the only GM's in the league that I would consistently have to wait over a week to get a response from. And you're inability to comment on the messageboard, or be on ICQ (never even one time saw you online) was probably why your activity was questioned...

Ross, as I stated it's nothing against you, I never once questioned your ability, but you have been a ghost all season. I don't want to get in a public spat as that never benefits anyone but the quick facts.
1. I haven't seen you on ICQ in well over a year, neither have the others I asked, ICQ is required in the league.
2. You messageboard posting prior to today was - Mar 18th - Nov 24th - Oct 26th - Oct 27th - Oct 14th - back in august
3. You did not submit lines all year, despite being walked through the process numerous times by Eric and/or myself.
4. Numerous GMs made complaints over the past year that it took forever to get trade responses from you, if they ever got one at all.
Again, we wish you the best, you will be paid out any and all monies owed to you, but it is in the best interests of the franchise, and of the league that we part ways at this point. Once again I thank you for your efforts, and wish you nothing but the best in the future.
Not even a warning. Unreal. At least have the guts to say, get on ICQ (which i dont' use, as I only use computers at my work, and they don't have ICQ) The reason I didn't reply to deals (and i did numerous times), was mainly becauase they were from the same pplk, Kirk etc asking for a franchise player for some rentals or some minor league guys. I admit, my lines were awful. I really didn't get the program, but i would often send in requests to have my lines reset. Not that many GM"s are hugely active on the message board, same guys usually and I would often check in, but not a tonne to say this year. As a league you PAY to get into, and invest money into, I find it hard to believe you can be relieved of your duties , especially without notice. I was simply quietly waiting until the offseason to make some FA splashes... I am more shocked about the Urgency of the decision. Not 1 warning . For such a great run league I expected a lot more.
This is a hard subject to comment on as Ross and Rick are two GM's that did always get back to me when I sent them a PM.
Ross as stated above you had problems doing your lines never posted on the board etc..... Neither of you have ever actively pursued me trying to make a trade or just bs about hockey. Which is part of the whole sim experience.
Like Bryce said it is a hard decision as you guys have been loyal to your teams and it is a PAY league but with that said I'm sure you do understand that there is a commitment to the league itself that maybe wasn't up to par?
Guys like Kirk and Rex can be annoying but they are very active and easy to put on the ignore list for a couple days :). Then there are guys like Rob Steve Gareth etc that are always active and doing all kinds of stuff. Guys like Alex and James aren't very active (like you) but they are always on ICQ and if you drop them a line they will get back to you sooner than later and make small tweaks to fix problems their teams are having.
I think not giving a warning isn't the right way to go about it but if you take a step back and look at the league and some of the new GM's they've found through BRHL juniors and europe that you can see why Eric and Bryce made this decision?

Its the NO warning, no chance to 'pick it up'..nothing. Its a backstabbing, coward way to go about things. Not just in a Sim league, but in life. If someone pulled something like this on any of you, you would feel betrayed, and take it personal. It comes to a point where you not so hard off being out of the league, but the way you were treated. I really thought both Eric and Kirk were stand up guys, running a league that was top. If they thought I was a 'struggling' GM, then first you warn, maybe lend a hand...then if all else fails, you sack the GM. I am a teacher. If a kid is failing, you make him come up with an action plan. If he continues to fail on the action plan (getting help, getting involved, doing more work) He fails!
Its a gutless move and I like how they play it off as 'this is the toughest part'...F that. Have some guts and tell me how it really is. So all your GM's can get the story straight. THe bottom line is, they found a GM that they thought would be more involved, maybe a buddyof theirs, who knows, and decided, without any consensus from the league or conversation with me, that they could take a team that I paid for, built from day 1 of this league.

Very Dissapointed.
Yeah Kirk, what's wrong with you?
In all seriousness, if you don't know that you're not active, and need us to tell you, that's a problem I'm glad we avoided now instead of later. As far as no warning on being fired, BRYCE and I sometimes will mention for GMs to step up their activity, sometimes we don't. It's nothing we're too concerned with keeping up on, except for the fact that if it falls well below the standards. At that point we will replace a GM. We don't like to babysit GMs, and would much rather replace them. We're not building character's and personalities, so we're not too interested in teaching adults how to act like adults and accept responsibility for their actions, or lack thereof.
Yes, you had problems with the lines. But after my 5th response of trying to undestand your problem, something no one else had an issue with, I lost interest in someone who didn't seem as interested in helping themselves. Your "often" requests count for roughly one request every 6-7 weeks. Which is in the far bottom of the league as far as lines and changes go.
Also, I don't think I received one RFA offer from you on your players. Unless you sent it to the old Yahoo e-mail account that we stopped using at the begining of the season. Or unless you were talking about last year.
In short, we didn't intend to hurt yours or anyone's feeling by removing you. We do, however, owe it to the rest of the paying GMs to make sure that everyone's activity is at an acceptable standard. If it isn't, we will act. It's as simple as that.
