The St Louis Blues management staff will be cheering on the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow night. Not because they don't want to face them in the first round of the playoffs, but a slip up by their opponents Buffalo could see St Louis take over first place in the league.
10 games ago, it wasn't a possibility that the Blues could have posed any sort of challenge upon the Sabres. But a epic and historic collapse by the Buffalo Sabres have left them with it all to do in a must-win game tomorrow against the Anaheim Ducks.
"I figure the Sabres have a 10% chance of winning tomorrow, the Ducks have their threats and against a tired Brodeur will probably suffer. While Toews is back, he'll be returning from injury and won't be at 100% by any stretch of the imagination. They should think long and hard about whether to even risk putting Toews back in the lineup."
While rumours swirl of a secret prize of half a million dollars being promised to the Ducks if they win, the motivation of the Ducks will never be higher as a win would both see them avoid the Blues in their first round matchup.
"The Sabres already feel like losers right now, they're supposed to be an all-star team, yet obviously they have some issues. While everyone expects them to come first, it must be heartbreaking to know another team is tied with them. "
