Im in a race for the division lead...I dont want to play my backup....whats the penalty if i dont respect the back-up minutes played rule
Keep in mind that the Stars played their backup for games that caused them to lose games, I'm sure he would have wanted to play Thomas instead of Legace for those games....
And Rob is right as well, Eric will start your backup regardless of what you want
Colorado is the latest to join the ranks leaving just Buffalo, Minnesota and Tampa Bay with their goalies needing one more start (some as little as a minute).
San Jose and New York Rangers will be forced to play their backups in two games time if they don't start playing their backup.
Did you just completely ignore my last post re: minutes played for buffalo's backup?

Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Yes because although you state that your goalies have fulfilled the required minutes, you haven't sent any proof in to the league....
I did my own quick calculations (let me know if I made a mistake anywhere) and came up with:
Day
Opponent
Minutes Played
Goalie
18
Florida
61.17
Harding
30
Montreal
18.5
Harding
32
Montreal
60
Harding
78
New Jersey
39.32
Harding
94
Dallas
32.33
Harding
106
Los Angeles
60
Harding
117
Tampa Bay
59.18
Howard
121
New York Rangers
64.56
Howard
124
Toronto
35.53
Howard
139
Boston
60
Howard
146
Tampa Bay
46.52
Howard
150
New York Islanders
59.18
Howard
Harding - 272.12
Howard - 326.17
Total = 598.29

Then how come the website minutes for both line up to 599? Either way I have a spreadsheet. I actually almost deleted it because I thought A) No one would care even if it did come down to 10 seconds and B) No one would actually take the hour+ it took me to calculate. If Bryce and Eric would like confirmation I would be more that happy to send it to them. As it is now though you're way off. Neither of your numbers are correct.

didn't take an hour+ calculating it, took me 15 minutes tops, so i'm willing to say i made a mistake, just wondering where i went wrong.... point out my mistakes please, just want to know what i'm missing....
i have no idea why my total comes up short of the 273 total that the sim states Harding played, i just looked game by game to find out the minutes played....
and as a team trying to catch yours, i would like to know if you have to play your backup once more :)

My spreadsheet has minutes on one column and then seconds on the right column. Obviously 60 seconds makes up a minute so I had to add up all the seconds and divide by 60. Did you do this? Anyways my spreadsheet is a bit confusing so to spend another 15 minutes trying to line up the number isn't really my top priority when I already spent literally an hour going through EVERY game I played this year and seeing my backup goalies seconds played.
I own the tie breaker because of most wins so I have a feeling you'll be in tough trying to catch me as you'll have to get 7 points in 5 games of me. That means the Sabres will need to lose 2 games out of 4 and you will have to win all 5.

Alright, the following are the seconds added up: 17 + 50 + 32 + 33 + 18 + 56 + 53 + 52 + 18 = 329 seconds Agreed?
Dividing by 60 would give you the minutes played, but the .48 does not give you the seconds but the amount of minutes played (so you shouldn't take that as the amount of seconds)... 329 seconds adds up to 5 minutes and 29 seconds, agreed?
Which means 593 + 5:29 = 598:29 minutes... you're saying that your backups have played 600:11 minutes (323:28 + 276:43), just wondering where I'm missing the 1 minute 42 seconds... what game am i missing or have i mistaken a game? Just point that out for me....
As for catching you, anything can happen in the sim
All I'm saying is you're wrong, I don't need to prove it to you who doesn't facilitate the rules. I'm not spending anymore time on you, if Bryce and Eric want my spreadsheet I'll send it.

I'm only doing this for the GMs of the league to let them know what they needed to do... based on the sim information (and the fact that Eric hadn't confirmed seeing any proof) means I ignore anything else to the contrary....
Based on the sim readouts, there are five teams yet to fulfill their backup minutes and Buffalo is still one of them... if Eric tells me that your numbers are accurate, then I'll change it....

Yes but the difference is that you were not granted an arm of authority by the league. You're doing it more as an update-type thing which is really for your benefit.
You want to make sure Eric/Bryce sees your posts and plays backup goalies against you for your benefit. Eric/Bryce wouldn't tell you that your numbers are accurate or not because he is the one making decision on who to play and what repercussions are involved if someone doesn't meet their minutes.

Firstly, when did I ever say I was the "arm of authority"? I started this thread just past the trade deadline day so that GMs had the choice of when to play their backups. This was meant as a tool to help Eric and Bryce to enforce the rule.
Secondly, I resent the accusation that this is purely for my benefit. I've told Eric when a team needed to start their backup, regardless of who they play against. I even told Eric that the Rangers can play Rinne for another game before they played their game against me. I just want to see everyone obeying the rules, whether or not it's to my benefit or to someone else.

I really don't see what the problem is here, this has been ongoing for approximately six weeks now and, in my opinion, it's for everyone's benefit, especially for Eric and Bryce. A rule is a rule and it's something everyone has to abide by so either provide Eric/Bryce with your so-called correct information or play your backup. Either way, I don't see why you have to confront Gareth on the issue, I think he's just trying to help.
Update: Brian Boucher came in relief for the Lightning and fulfilled the 5 minutes of goaltending minutes they had left... so Tampa Bay have fulfilled their backup minutes
