they are proven playoff warrior's i agree rob like loungo is.... plus the fact they UFA at end of their deals ovechkin like a 8-10yr asset just didnt make sense to move him unless getting a young stud like Stamkos ++ or Kane ++ kinda deal...
i think if the deal was a 3-1 deal the sedin's-fleish for AO.. (throw in a salary add in like langkow if need be but get a pick or something for adding to AAAAAAOOOO)
even if drury isnt playing well (SO FAR) this year nhl his ratings are still solid for this season your trying to compete in.. then move him in offseason if need be... as a give away as salary dump to team near the floor or something..Prucha is a cheap salary guy who can add depth to any team..
but i think considering ur plan to want to still compete for next couple years adding prucha drury two multi year players just didnt make sense from alot of people's eyes.
again, wrong section... FINES COMING OR A RESPONSE
Seriously Rex quit being a baby ... Luke and Kirk are just mad they didn't get Ovy ... why be a suck? It's a big deal in the BRHL2 when one of the best players is traded.
I see what San Jose was doing with the deal and Rob defended them quite well. Nothing to bitch or whine about... it's a good discussion of the value of one of the best players in the league leave it be and let people talk about it.
I think Fliechman is underrated and is a big key to this deal if he produces like I think he can it might work out better for SJ than some people think. I agree with Kirk though not sure why John included Drury (as the 3 for 1 I think is fair value) and he could have got a couple picks or lesser prospects in a seperate deal to dump his salary.

its not supposed to be in my press release section, as per the rules - at least thats what used to be the rule because you'd have this exact issue arrive when people comment on "oh how could you take A + B versus my offer of C, D, & E... it turns into nonsense... and how does you guys continually bringing up drury's diminished value, not alter his value at least a little bit??
so i guess i really dont care if they fine anyone for commenting here, I will stop posting in these threads and simply post my article on the main site and be done with it..
no worries..
sorry for all the commotion.. me and john are both happy with the packages that we got, and thats all that really matters.
cheers

If Indianapolis wants to say they offered Gretzky and Orr for Ovy but John decided to take your offer in this thread it is fine by me ... yes it got discussed in the wrong place but atleast it is being discussed... Like I said it's a big deal when a player that good gets traded.
Luke also brought up that Ovy wasn't publically shopped and critisized John. Nothing wrong with that....do you think 26 GM's in the NHL weren't upset when MOC deal Joe Thornton to SJ for a bag of pucks and didn't pubilically shop him? John responded by saying he had a set value for Ovy and contacted 12 teams about dealing him. John did his hw and got a deal he likes. I've seen a lot better and a lot worse trades in fantasy hockey but the discussion is good for the league.
As for me diminishing the value of Drury by saying he sucks if the other 29 GM's in the league listened to everything I said I'd have talked John into a Ovechkin for Numminen deal. Don't act like 3 or 4 GM's saying Drury blows hurts his value with the other 26. This isn't a league full of 12 year old kids....GM's form their own value of players. I think Lucic is better than he is and Hemsky is the most overrated player in the NHL etc all gm's have their bias!
1. There is nothing wrong with people commenting in this thread as far as I am concenred. It's a freakin forum for crying out loud.
2. Rex, it is completely hypocritical of you to cry about people commenting or criticizing your deal. You've done the exact same thing before.
3. I actually think this is a relatively even deal. People aren't giving the sedins the cred they deserve. And being clutch in the playoffs or not (Sedins) doesn't really translate much to STHS value. As has been said, getting two guys who're essentially 80-100 point players for AO and getting Fleischmann who could reach that level and is young, is a pretty solid return. And it sounds like SJ shopped AO (not to me, but I wouldn't have had the assets...). So, good deal on all parts I think.
I know I am only a part-timer GM now...but I will wade in on the thread commenting.
Rex, the rule is to not comment in the Trade Block section as to not reduce the value of the players being shopped. Press releases are fair game for comments.
As far as the trade, if both sides are happy, who cares what Luke or Kirk think.
I told Dave from that our first offer should have been Vinny, a top dman and a top prospect...so something along the lines of Lecavalier, Markov/Streit/Volch....well, any dman but Green, and Del Zotto or Benn or whoever..or something along those lines.
But John gets to determine what he is looking for...and he seems pleased.

Seriously, a good point. In fact, I wasn't even criticizing the actual trade as much as I was how John went about it. AND that's something that he will have to deal with. Like I said, John and I LIKELY wouldn't have come up with an agreement anyways, but when you have the top player in the world it seems to me you may want to see what EVERYONE has to offer.
I tried to get the ball rolling and would have made some serious offers with the likes of Kopitar, Carter, ect names being thrown out there, but you didn't even care to wait to see what I was going to offer (or others as it sounds). Like I said, John can do whatever he wants! It's his team. Do I think it's so unfair that there should be some sort of reverse, of course not. I didn't say that. Nor was I even talking to Rex until he started his stuipid A** grade 9 responses.
Good for you both, all Im saying is SJ could have got much more. I think I'm allowed to do that on a forum.
