A quick scan at the drafted BRHL Bruins in the last draft and their performance to date this season. With no early picks, this still looks like it will have been a very deep draft class for the Bruins, particularily along the blueline.
83 - Brent Regner (D) Regner is in his first pro season and is playing quite well in Syracuse in the AHL. With 6 points in 15 games, Regner is flashing the offensive ability, and the talent to run a PP that could be his calling card into an NHL job. With the lack of offensive defensemen in Columbus, Regner is a prospect the Bruins are very high on.
92 - Harri Sateri (G) Sateri is the undisputed starter in Tappara this season in the SM Liga, and has played very strong with a 2.65 GAA and .914 save% Sateri is the youngest starting goalie in the SM Liga, and looks like the next in line of great Sharks European goalies.
96 - Phillippe Cornet (LW) Cornet is off to a great start this season with 28 points in 21 games. Cornet is a favourite to be on Team Canada at the WJC, and his offensive ability and chemistry with Jordan Eberle, turned heads at Oilers camp this past fall. Look for Cornet to get a long look at pro camp next season, but likely start his pro career in the AHL in 10-11.
104 - Jason Demers (D) Shucks latest NHL man crush is on the player who he told anyone that woudl listen was going to crack teh Sharks out of camp and get PP time. Man am I good or what? With 12 points in 23 NHl games. Demers is having a fantastic rookie season, and is making the Sharks forget rather quickly about Christian Ehroff. The 21 year old defenseman is playing top PP in San Jose with Dan Boyle, and has been off the charts as far as the teams expectations go.
108 - Garrett Roe (LW) A point per game player his first two years at St. Cloud State, Roe is at the point per game mark again this season. The undersized forward has an edge to his game and is a typical boom/bust pick that the Bruins organization is becoming known for.
117 - Michal Jordan (D) Jordan was recently inducted into the basketball hall of fame and.. OK wrong Mike Jordan. Michal has 10 points in 17 games in the OHL this season with Plymouth. With teh WJC around the corner, he will be expected to lead the Czech entry with his solid two way play.
129 - Alain Goulet (D) Averaged over a point per game in the Q last season, Goulet has had a strong start to his pro career with 5 points in 15 AHL games for the Providence Bruins. At 6'3 and 200lbs, Goulet is growing into his body, and his offensive accumen would lead one to assume he will get a shot in the NHL in the not so distant future.
136 - Francis Pare (C) Pare has struggled a bit this season for the Grand Rapids Griffins, but has been battling the flu as well. With 5 points this season, expect Pare to pick things up as he gets healthier, and hopefully be the next in line of a long list of Red Wings who played in teh AHL during the season, and NHl in the post season.
139 - Yannick Riendeau (RW) A year after dominating the Q with 126 points. Riendeau has yet to suit up this season in Providence, due to injury. Riendeau remains a project, but his offensive ability is still very intriguing.
149 - Teemu Hartikainen (LW) With 11 points in 21 games in the SM Liga, Hartikainen continues to see his stock rise. With a big frame at 6'1, 200lbs, Hartikainen is bigger than most of the teams prospects, and at 19 years old is still growing. He is a longterm project, but has shown the scoring touch and size that make him an appealing prospect.
166 - Michael Leighton (G) Having a great season in BRHL2 as Bruins backup, he struggled in Carolina in the NHl this season before injury hit. With the Canes signing Legace, Leighton's backup spot this season is anything but guaranteed.
185 - Juraj Mikus (D) The 20 year old defenseman is enjoying a strong start to his North American pro career. Playing with the Marlies, Mikus has 5 points in 12 games, and is displaying the physical play that his 6'4 body allows him to. Mikus is caught behind fellow Bruins draftee Carl Gunnarson on teh LEafs callup list, but a full AHL season would be best for his development, and he could conceivable be a longterm top 4 defenseman in the NHL.
188 - MacGregor Sharp (C) - The lack of an AHL team for the Ducks is undoubtedly hurting Sharp, in his first pro season after being a Hobey Baker finalist last season. Sharp has put up a point per game for Bakersfield in the ECHL, but how that translates is a bit of a mystery. With a responsible two way game, Sharp still could see some NHL time this season, and will likely end up in a third line NHL role when it is all said and done.
201 - Carl Gunnarson (D) Gunnarson made a great impression at Leafs camp, and would have made the team if not for an abundance of NHL (and 1 way contracts) on the pro team. Now that the injury bug has hit a bit, Gunnarsson has been recalled and has 1 point in the 2 games he has played. At 6'2 and 190lbs, Gunnarson has NHl size, and his poise with the puck has been impressive. He could be forcing his way permanently on the Leafs roster, and forcing Burkie to move a dman or two to make room for him.
208 - Ryan Keller (RW) A late round flyer on this older draftee. Keller signed with the Senators this summer after dominating the SM Liga. To date he has 9 goals, and 9 assists in 17 games in the AHL for Binghamton. Keller is perhaps next in line when an injury occurs in Ottawa, and looks like he could ulitmately become a decent player at the NHL level.
213 - Patrick Zackrisson (RW) Another late round flier on a European player by the Bruins. Zackrisson is at almost a point per game clip in the SEL this season as a 22 year old. His offensive abilities have been noticed by the Sharks, and rumblings in San Jose are that they will try to bring him to North America when his contract expires with Linkoping this offseason.
215 - Stefan Chaput (C) After an injury plagued 08-09 season. Chaput is healthy and his game is rounding into form. With 10 points in the AHL so far this season, the 21 year old is starting to get his game back to where it was. With the expected house cleaning coming in Carolina, look for Chaput to be with th big club this season after the rebuilding has begun.
217 - Ilkka Heikkinen (D) - The Bruins last pick of the is in his first pro North American season after playing over in Finland in recent years. While the Ranger blueline has been surprisingly productive, Heikkinen is enjoying a very good rookie season in the AHL. With 12 points in 17 games, his offensive accumen is translating well to the AHL, and he looks to be a guy who could emerge in the NHl in the future with his offensive instincts.
