Montreal switches out net

Montreal has completed their most intensive trading period since GM Tomayko took over the team over a season ago.  The focus of the team's trades were to change up the future of the Goaltender position.  The first trade sent starter Hiller to the Maple Leafs with a 7th rounder for Rick Dipietro, Chuck Kobasew, Spencer Machacek, and a 6th rounder.

"We're sad to part with Jonas Hiller," GM Tomayko started off, "but we were intense trade negotiations to acquire another future goalie for this squad before Chet Pickard really got into the mix.  We're taking the risk chance on Dipietro as he does come off an injury season, but we know the player he was before then.  We look to lock him up this offseason to lead the way for our team atleast the next season or two.  Chuck Kobasew provides support for our forward lines for the next few years.  We lose rights to players after this season, and Chuck presents 2nd/3rd line talent while we go through this period.  Spencer Machacek is a grinder we look to pickup many rebound goals for us and also play the PK in a couple seasons.  He is now one of our closest to professional talents our team posesses."

In the other trade, the Habs acquired promising netminder, Jonathan Quick in exchange for a 1st and Derek MacKenzie.

"Jonathan Quick looks very promising to us in the next couple of years.  At worst, we have a goalie controversy for the next season with our two new netminders.  Quick is young and definately has established himself as a starter in the league.  We'd expect Quick to split some time with Dipietro and we'll go from there.  He came at a cost with our 1st, but we're confident in our current squad with possibly more trades to come shortly."

The Canadiens are known to be shopping Fedotenko, Ryder and Hudler.  Asking prices has been Pro/Farm/Prospects with 2nd line potential.  Goalie Ellis is available for a 4th or higher as well
