No idea what you are talking about...

I am really against giving credit for using the web portal e-mails.

Those e-mails are only 1 of about 3 or 4 legitimate methods of communicating in this league.  To give credit for just one of the methods is un-representative and unfair.

Sure, you can forward those e-mails to personal e-mail, but when I initiate trade talks from personal e-mail it won't go through the portal.  Also, for some people, including myself, ICQ or PM might be preferred, easier, or more accessible.  There are many reasons I prefer to use methods other than the web portal.  Forcing me to use the web portal will frustrate me and will also reduce the efficiency of my trade discussions.

It is not fair to penalize those who use alternate communication methods.

Thats just because you make 80% of the transactions in this league.  Having more transactions than points in the standings isn't participation, its panic mixed with boredom with a dash of insanity.

I dont think that their is an easy way of doing this.  I would rather the commishes get together and just use their judgement as to who is granted International Teams instead of using this system. They obviously know whats going on the league (pause for laughter).

Anyone who proposes a system on here is going to do so with only their interests in mind, and not that of the league (see above).

I don't sign on to the BRHL pages to read about the Atlanta Thrashers everyday since this whole participation board started.

you havent really followed the league closely then MTL.

http://brhl2.activeboard.com/index.spark?aBID=85830&p=22

i think the thrashers participation has been top notch since the beginning of the league

i've written 3 articles about the trades ive made this season, and then one about whooping bryce last night.. the 8 articles i posted in the offseason arent even counted..

Again to say the thrashers activity is up because of a paticipation chart is pretty stupid..

Ian i was joking about the weight scale i had listed as i obviously know i make more trades than most and a 80% weight on 1 outta 4 options is obviously a joke.. whatever scale is determined Atl is fine with..

I just like the fact this has guys a bit riled up. Good job Dave!

On a related note. I have roughly 8-10 hours of legwork needed to get done for the WJC. If you can commit to having it done by the end of November, I will assign it to a volunteer and will guarantee you a team in the WJC for the legwork.

I'd be willing to do this for 2 guys who commit, so if you are interested PM me on THE WEBPORTAL smile.gif

I still don't understand... are you complaining because Kirk writes articles?  That is rediculous.  If you don't want to read his articles, then don't click on them... criticizing a guy for writing an article just makes zero sense....

Disclaimer: if I misinterpreted what you were saying, I am sorry...

No I'm just stating that writing an aritcle everyday just to be considered for the post league stuff is ridiculous...I don't read all of Kirk's posts, but I understand why someone would post everyday just to get in the international play or whatever. there's no record of how many pages i view a day or even how many times i sign on to the site. just because I dont post something or move players or change lines every week doesn't mean i dont participate as much as someone who does all of that. Hell, sometimes I just click on through the sites without signing on because I'm at work on a government computer. I'm with Ian on this because it shouldnt be a numbers game to decide who is in the post league play. If so, don't you expect some people to post every day to do so? it becomes pointless to even post at that point. When I read an article on here it should be because its a league change/update huge trade/change in team or even player availability. Basically when I post, I'm doing so for a reply or someone to talk about it.

Still, I think it's rediculous to complain about someone writing articles.  If they have time to do it, then why wouldn't they?  Kirk has always posted lots of articles about his team, that is just what he does...

As for Ian's suggestion, isn't that basicly exactly what Bryce is suggesting??  He's just giving us an idea of how the commishes will base their decisions...

Edit: I'll also mention that from what I recall, the league gives more "credit" for league-wide articles than for team articles...

you're welcome bryce.. haha

like i said.. i try and stay active but it is quite a dilemna because everyone has major different opinions... we have a guy who makes major trades every day and does lines..

we have guys who does awesome articles but if there are no injuries doesnt make a lineup change..

there are guys who just use the icq for chatting which is still participation..

many factors... i know you guys want to make sure we are all active which is the point of the system... just hard to determine what method is the best if any .

i love the chatter though.. glad to get things spiced up

3 full days, not one volunteer. Now this is not directed as an attack on anyone, but perhaps you see the point when participation etc gets questioned. I know we all have lives, but if volunteers don't come for this, and I end up doing it. You will continue to see alot of teh same names in international tournies because they do alot of the behind the scenes work for us. If we are to arbitrarily decide on who gets teams, the guys helping behind the scenes in all BRHL leagues will be at forefront.

Here's your chance to get into WJC, (and if you do well, guaranteed into Olympics).
