LOL nothing like signing yourself right into a cap problem as a rebuilding team :)
See my Building through UFA thread. But if he gets all the players without giving up assets to get them, he gets to have his UFAs until his youngsters develop.
I'm sure the asking price had nothing to do with him not having Lecavalier.
One good young player along with some spare parts isn't too expensive. The way you guys make it sound we are asking the world. I guess everyone things that if you are trading a top player because of their salary, you should get a full screwing.
I don't like to be public with offers, but Turris isn't anywhere near a sure thing ;), and the other two parts were no where near as good as Turris. (And if you think we turned down tons of offers with other good young players in them, you are sorely mistaken.)
all depends on perspective. I know my theory is to pay no one over 6.5 million, but im in the minority. I think you cross that line and values go down quickly. I also know that some good young players have been offered to you *cough..burns..cough*

Personally I have never been a Burns fan, and the only other really good young player that has been offered is Turris. There was an off the wall offer from a GM with a good young player in it, but that had us giving up some early picks too...
I agree the value is less when a guy makes a lot of dough, but there are reasons the top guys make lots of dough....and if you want one in his prime, you have to pay the dough.
I have notice though with UFA, the market has picked up.... ;)
