just let bryce and eric deal with it... i highly doubt luke intended an 8+ million salary for recchi, i expect there will be a fine for stupidity, but methinks that recchi will be more tempting to gms soon...

AFTER a bid is made its final if it DOESNT put you over the player or salary limits.. or else thins will get confusing to the 100th degree.

Montreal fined 500k for being over 5 man limit (offer on Belanger pulled)
Toronto fined 500k for being over 5 man limit (offer on Schneider pulled)

I wasn't aware of the 5 man limit (ok didn't read the rules thoroughly but I want to point out I had the cap for every offer I had out there.)

Sorry, I should have looked at the rules more carefully, here I am bidding on some guys to fill out both my pro and farm. I guess I get an offer pulled now because I offered Jason Krog a contract. Seriously Bryce this entire process is bull****. Idiotic contracts to Doan, Timonen amongst others. And you're worried about teams bidding on more than 5 players at once? Well I think you should add a dollar value to that since I put offers out to like 4 AHL level guys. I think any fine should be removed to Chicago for bidding on a guy 24 or younger because he's at least not being detrimental to the process. I just spent the past 30 minutes scanning over the list and had zero fun doing so. This FA process is devoid of any real GM skill.

I have 22 million in cap space and need a #1 goalie so naturally targetting Kiprusoff where the bidding isn;t out of hand - though I don't know how to get a signing bonus into the bidding.... And I need a 2nd line C... well forget it. There's none to be had reasonably. The dynamics in this league are all totally back****wards because there's real money at stake and GMs want to WIN WIN WIN NOW NOW NOW... so pay Doan $15,000,000 for one year! Timonen $13m for 3 years... For me, it's Kirk's money...

I really have no choice but to offer out crazy contract(s) I need to get above the floor obviously rebuilding the way I have isnt the way an NHL team would do it but we cant completely run our teams the way NHL GM's do and I have tried to stay away from overly talented players but none the less I have to add over 16mil in salary so crazy 1yr contracts are kind of a must.

Yet another reason to not have a salary floor. Seen this last year in the BFHA with Wyatt Smith making multi millions
