Reported Offer for Kaberle...

TSN is reporting that the Bruins have offer Kessel for Kaberle and the 7th overall pick:

What do people think of this offer?

Watch Burke turn this in to a 3-way deal with Kessel going to TB for the 2nd pick.

If I was a Bruin fan I'd be unhappy to see Kessel go but keep in mine he's not great on the back end and Kaberle and 7th overall is more than his value alone. I actually think with the 7th pick you could grab a comparable player.

Thats the stupidest thing I've heard all day.

Ya 40 goal 21 year olds grow on trees at 7th overall.

I tend to agree with Bryce here.  You only have to look at past drafts to see the kind of uncertainty that comes with picking in the 5 to 10 range...

2005 is a good example:

1 Sidney Crosby
2 Bobby Ryan
3 Jack Johnson
4 Benoit Pouliot
5 Carey Price
6 Gilbert Brule
7 Jack Skille
8 Devin Setoguchi
9 Brian Lee
10 Luc Bourdon

Sure they could get a guy like Setoguchi...  But they could also get a guy that ends up being no better than Pouliot, Brule or Skille.  These guys aren't going to be impact players in the NHL.  Moving the 7th and Kaberle for Kessel would give the Leafs a bonafide goal-scorer.

I honestly don't think the Leafs can pass this one up.  They can then use the money they save by signing Jay-Bo...

Kessel + JayBo >>> Schenn (best case) + Kaberle

Two positives would happen from this deal

1) It allows me to like Kaberle again

2) Annoys Bryce

however, i don't know what toronto would have to add for the 2nd overall pick.... it would have to be kessel plus...

rumours in vancouver of the canucks offering schneider, bieksa and 22nd overall for 2nd overall if NYI takes hedman 1st overall

I wouldnt understand why you move Kessel because of cap concerns, and then bring in Kaberle...who wouldn't even be your top defenseman.

I would think you want the 40+ goal scorer who is young enough to build around for years.

Then again, if you can trade Thornton you can trade Kessel.

I think Burkie should take it and run....but the problem is he either wants Schenn or Tavares. It could very well be a smokescreen wanting Tavares so he can slide in to the top 5 to grab Schenn.

It would be the only reason I could see to turn down Kessel.
