PS. the reason you dont hear habs fans braggin about their cups is because they had to cheat to get them..
Huh?
Habs fans don't brag because: a) Everyone knows that we dominate when it comes to tradition, no need to remind people, and b) We know that being rich in tradition won't go an inch towards winning another cup... if tradition won cups the Habs would have been a LOCK for the cup this year in their 100th anniversary... What we saw this year showed that in some instances tradition = pressure = bad news
they dont brag because in the early nhl days the quebec born kids were "priority" of the habs, the rest of the league then had a normal draft without the kids the habs had taken "priority" on as they are french..

I've looked into this myth and from what I have read it seems that while this priority thing existed there are a few key things to consider:
1. Every team had priority of the region in which they were located. 2. The Canadiens did not get any good players through "priority" - only a few made the NHL and those that did were jobbers 3. Back then the best players were just signed by teams well before they even made it to the draft. The draft was just the crappy leftovers. So having priority of the crappy leftovers really didn't help much.
Ok, I just skimmed thru the past 20 posts of arguing, so my point may have been made or it may not have been made...I really dont feel like doing the research into it.
While the Habs did dominate in the day, it was back in the day when there were 5 other teams they were competing against?
****, even the Leafs could win a cup when they only had to beat 5 teams!
