DU = Endurance based on ice timeper game. actual GP is not a factor as teh sim doesnt recognize it as an indicator of a player to get injured easier. Neither did FHL, though they claimed it did.
While I understand, and agree with your premises on defensive attributes, the thing that is being lost is the sim results. Having Dmen on the same scal as forwards, provided unrealistically high results for almost EVERY dman in the league. In 3 of teh 4 test sims I ran 9 of the top 20 point getters were dmen, is that realistic?
From my multitude of test sims. The scale amongst dmen is much greater on a 1-2 point change than even a forward on a 6-7 point range, why? I don't know. What I do know is that the top offensive defensemen are routinely amongst the top scoring defensemen in the test sims, and at REALISTIC point totals, which is the goal.
Understand that things are not painted with the same brush, and defensemen, while the scale of their ratings may not look as large, are simming realistically, and even a 3-4 point spread on the attributes from a #1 dman to a #3 or #4 dman is huge in the results of the sim.

Good point. I could see how the sim would do that as they likely get the same or MORE ice time as top forwards.. Interesting

Trust me (Rob Kirk and Eric can attest) In some of teh test sims I was running Dmen without being scaled back from forwards werre not producing realistically. I started from the same premises, and hjave scaled them back accordingly to get realistic results. I've been moving goalies and players around to see how they sim and compare from there, and the results as an even scale are not realistic and the variance in production is much greater amongst dmen on a 2-3 difference in ratings than forwardss.
I guess the real question begs, are the difference in 72 (Mike Green) and 56 (Chris Pronger) enough to reflect a 20 goal difference that they actually had. What have the sim tests resulted in for Green's goals vs Prongers. I think obviously if increasing scoring to Dmen increases to forward type number it can't work but what if the difference between the best and worst was greater for Dmen? Just a thought.

Yeah that is it, having defencemen with 90 scoring will lead to defencement who score 50 goals, that just makes no sense. Definetly the defencemen must have lower SC than forwards, as is the case with the ratings as they are now. As Like said, as long as the defencemen are scoring in a manner in the sim which is representative of real life, then this argument is totally moot.
