There are maybe two more places in America where hockey could work, but there's about 6 current American cities where it's not... Obviously Phoenix isn't one of them, send the Coyotes back to Canada, whether back in Winnipeg or let Basaille bring them to Hamilton, but for the good of the league, let them leave Phoenix!
I think the decision will be made in the summer, and I do think that it's very possible they could move within a year. I do think PHX is turning out to be a failure. I'd love to see them up north, somewhere. Hartford, Winnipeg, Quebec, some city that doesn't already have a team, but is already a strong hockey following.

they cant legally leave though.. the new stadium in phoenix was built on the agreement the team would be their at least 10 yrs or something,,, if they leave they have to pay an huge chunk of money to the city who built them a new building..
True, but there would be an option to settle. And I'm sure the arena group would rather take a settlement than have the team declare bankruptcy and not receive anything. Leases are nowhere as difficult to break as the media makes it out to be.
I'm also sure the NHL could be open to constructing a percentage of payments to PHX from the new location, if it meant the new place was bringing in fans and was more profitable.
