With James post it's as good a time as any to announce this.
Next year with the move to STHS, and the awesome, easy to use setup of the minor leagues, we will be able to expand the rosters extensively and all players who played at least 1 game in the AHL or NHL in 08-09 will be rated, therefore if you own their rights, they WILL be created and assigned contracts
All players who are 25 or older as of June 1, 2009 who's rights are not owned in the BRHL (after our entry draft). Will be available as unrestricted free agents to help fill minor league rosters. (System still to be determined).
I just want to give everyone the heads up.
To premptively answer the first question I will here (why do we have to create a guy that played 1 AHL game). The reasoning is, for him to have played in the AHL he would have had a contract, and a year of that contract used up, this ensures accuracy in relation to ELC's.
Not to cause trouble, but doesn't a player have to play 10 pro games or something before the ELC kicks in, perhaps we should only force guys who have played 10+ career AHL or NHL games.
Edit: I'm honestly happy whatever you chose - we'll all be playing by the same rules, so its not a big deal, but just thought I'd mention this.
Honestly, Im not sure, I thought that was simply for junior eligibility. Either way they ware going to be in teh database gathered so they will have ratings, rather than have qualifiers like that I would rather just paint it all with one brush.
The 10 games are for the juniors, once a player plays 10 games in the pros their contract officially starts, a kid like Luke Schenn could still be sent to juniors but a year of his NHL contract will still be used up so there is no point in wasting it. If a player is in the AHL his NHL contract is in affect, although it is usually a 2-way deal.
