Poll of the Week #4

Feel free to discuss what detriments there is to eating up CBA contract years as development by rushing kids to the NHL:

Leave it where it is...if scouts can't tell a top talent by age 18 then they shouldn't be a scout. If GMs are too stupid to realize a player has more value at 3 years and 850 k developed than not developed then they shouldn't be a GM. There are an elite few that help a team win NOW and are worth bringing on the time. aka Crosby, Kane...

I voted 19. Sure there are guys who make it. But there are quite a few that are ruined by being rushed. Blackburn, Fleury, Brule among others.

The worry is that some would go to Europe for some money if they had the chance, but I would like to see guys mature before they come to the league.

i don't think the draft age should be changed, but that if a player is playing less than 10-13 minutes a game as an 18 year old, i think they would be better suited getter bigger minutes and role on a junior team than struggling in the NHL

I agree with Gareth.

I think there are those exceptional talents who warrent a roster spot at 18.

HOWEVER, I think some GMs in the NHL are trying to broaded the skill of 18 year olds by putting some players in the NHL who are pretty questionable.

everything is made for a reason.. keep it the way it is... its a perfect setup scouts know what they are investing in... and that age of 18 in bang on.
