Teams in the negatives (Or will be)

We have one team in the negative finances and in total 7 teams looking to be in the negative by year end.

What is the policy on this?

The teams will have to find a way to earn money (me included) there are usually tasks that Bryce or Eric have to earn money or a team can write articles.  Personally I'm trying to drop some salary via trade but not much is happening on the trade market right now.

In addition to what Rob has said, Bryce and I are in the process of trying to work out a more long term solution regarding the financial status of the teams.

i'm forecast to be in the negative, but i'm on target to win 4.775 million and on the edge to win 6 million more... that should keep me afloat

Building on the ability for you GM's to make money, please e-mail the league if you're interested in making some money on a weekly basis.  I have ideas for articles, and other league duties that could use some help.

Regarding finances,

my understanding was the the money generated by teams is to be used as signing bonuses on RFAs and UFAs.

So, if a team is running a deficit, then the penalty will be his inability to offer SBs to RFAs and UFAs and as a result...not be able to keep his team togther.

Outside of that, I dont see a reason why we would penalize teams in the red, their exclusion from free agency is penalty enough (imo)

Finances are a way to make sure that GMs are attempting to run their team properly.

Say a team overpays for bottom level free agents regularly.  They will always be under the cap but never able to get any better.  Thus the fans realize this and stay away.

Also it means that guys should be active watching ticket prices, attendance, look to acquire 80 OV players to attract fans, and also find other ways to be active and generate money for their team.

It is another check and balance.  You should never run a team into the negative.
