RE: Our network?

I'm 33 years old, single father of 2. I really don't work for a living as some days it can't be called "work." I'm a producer for NHL Network and have been with the network since day 1. Needless to say I watch hockey every night and know the league backwards and forwards. I've slowly been able to develop a lengthy list of contacts in and out of hockey. I produced the Network's combine and draft coverage the last 2 years so have a pretty good feel for the current and future prospects entering hockey through friends and associates I've met.

Not much else to say. My daughter figure skates and is involved in gymnastics and my son just started organized hockey (1 of the youngest in the league at age 3) which keeps me busy.

For me, I am currently working under contract with TD Waterhouse's back office in Toronto.  Interesting work, so-so pay and absolutely no job security.  Supposely I am qualified along the line financial adviser/trader but my current work in "corporate actions" is way more interesting and less stressful.

But yeah, my life revolve around stocks, on and off work.  biggrin

Trained in university as "urban planner" then worked as retail supervior, travel agent, then put up money to get my financial lisences which isn't really needed for my current job although it helps.  Talk about waste of money in education LOL.

While I am not a financial adviser, if you have general questions in regard to finance I MIGHT be able to answer them.wink

For fellow Canadians if you have some extra cash, a friendly reminder that you make sure to take advantage to the new Tax Free Saving Account starting next year.

I came across this post and I recall seeing it a while ago. I thought it was regarding our FHL SIM network 'our network'. Since i know nothing about computers I stayed far far away from it...Now that i have actually opened it, it is a great thread (not sure who started it, but good job)...

I am from the west coast, Campbell River (Rod Brind'Amour and Salmon)...Grew up playing hockey there, went to notre dame for a year and then went on to play in the kootenays for 5 years. (Castlegar, BV nitehawks, stints in Penticton and Trail...Moved back home to play my last year in Campbell River).

Moved out to Toronto, for school 5 years ago, thought i would move back to BC, love the city and now am a torontonian...
Currently 27 high school phys ed teacher... Still play a bit of hockey, but mostly coach (just won the tdsb west regions in hockey).

Recently just opened a pub in toronto with a few friends , Opera Bobs Public House (dundas/ossington)... If anyone is looking for a good pint and decent people (sometimes..jk) look us up...
Been swamped with school/work and never go home...

I am in two FHL leagues (DHL the other, won the cup by the way)...i love the BRHL2. knowledgable GM's and great commish's (i had to get my ass kiss in there). I am a tough bitch to make deals with. I value prospects very high (still can't believe i let Bobby Ryan go!!!)

I am a huge Flyers fan, and a huge Manchester City Supporter.

All the best

I just quit my job at CN, I was the Manager of Administration for CN Fleet Management in Montreal. I have accepted a job to be the new Director of Fleet Services for the Government of Alberta in Edmonton. So I will be transitioning into that job on April 1 and my family is moving back to Edmonton in July so it will be a hectic spring of travelling back and forth. I am on a nice 4 week holiday right now (first one in 12 years), before heading out.

I am an avid sports fan from watching Football to Downhill Skiing to Curling... I'll even watch horse jumping... :) Favorite teams include Canucks, Broncos, Blue Jays (was Expos), Raptors (was Grizzlies). Also a movie buff as i currently own around 200 DVD, and now 10 blue rays... And I also coached minor hockey for three years on the AAA level Peewee and Bantam for Vancouver, Evander Kane was one of the best players I seen over that time.

Hey guys, I recently had a marketing company help in the process of launching a website. After many many long days working on it, it's finally ready. Anyone who has the chance to give me some constructive feedback I'd really appreciate it!

The website should explain what I do vocationally but here's a bit more about myself:

I'm a recent university graduate with a BBA. As of February (plese let me get this date right) 7th I became engaged to my wonderful fiance- we'll be married November 21, 2009.

Growing up in Seattle, baseball was the most beloved pastime, so I decided to dedicate my life to becoming a professional baseball player. Unfortunately, at the collegiate level I tore my UCL (Tommy John surgery), and couldn't afford the 5 year wait through the Canadian health care system or $25,000 min through the US system. So I had to focus my energy elsewhere...Sim league hockey in an attempt to become an NHL GM...haha jk but in all seriousness I did get in for an interview with Ken King (President of the Flames), and have exchanged emails with Darryl Sutter. After seeing no fruit from that venture, I decided to pursue my vocation in the finance sector.

I'm thankful for hobbies like this league and am very grateful to those make it all possible!

Although I am not a huge fan of the way the site is put together my main thing would be to add a picture of yourself in the introductions.

Would make it a lot more personal.   evileye

just like the picture of you in the avator? if that's your wife or gf, then kudos... :)

but yeah, seeing how the only image of you on the website is that stick figure, i would recommend a picture of yourself with your contact details....

THanks for the feedback. When I launched to 600 realtors and family/friend email campaign I added a picture; I'm just not sure if people would write off someone who has a bit of a younger face.

I'll be hitting the big 3-0 in exactly one week from today. I have been married 8 years this May, and have a precious little boy Tuomas who is 5-weeks old. He has a Finnish name because his mom is 100% Finnish born and raised. He is the new light of my life.

I currently work in the insurance industry doing Disability Case Management. Its a job and allows me to support my family. My real passion was working with youth with behavioural, social, and mental health issues, however the pay and hours were less than ideal so I left the profession 2 years ago now.

I currently live in Edmonton but my heart is in Europe. We keep saying we will move back to Europe (Finland or Sweden) someday but we seem to be planted here. We are one step closer though as my wife is applying for her Canadian citizenship. That has long been a pre-requisite for us moving to Europe as the cost of getting citizenship is pretty cheap but the cost of residency is outrageous. It would just be easier and cheaper if we then decided to move back to Canada.

I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Alberta, I have a Political Science minor, awarded at the U of A but every credit towards that was earned at Uppsala Universitet in Uppsala Sweden. I also have 1/4 of a Masters Degree in International Peace and Conflict Studies, also awarded at Uppsala Universitet.

My team are the Oilers with the Red Wings a Distant second. Outside of that I cheer for Kimi Raikonen in F1 and nothing else in the sporting world is worth getting passionate about IMO. If I lived in Europe I would probably be more in to Football (the logically named one, not the illogically named one).

Free Time? In the last 5-weeks I have learned that free time is an illusion. Prior to that though I played rec hockey, actually I still do this. Im actually quite bad but somehow I get points, both goals and assists. My strategy is typically give it to the good players and then drive to the net and park my 6'1 230lb frame right in front of the net. In 18 games this year I have 7 goals and 8 assists, all 7 of those goals were scored within 3 feet of the crease. I cant shoot or carry a puck worth a ****. anyway, I also used to be really in to FHL, now Im more a casual observer ha. I watch and read about hockey as much as I can. Outside of hockey I love to watch movies as much as possible. I like to go to the pub with the boys but I hate clubs which is ironic considering I love to dance and am actually a very good pop n locker. If they had So You Think You Can Dance Canada when I was younger and in better shape I would have auditioned. I am really in to progressive rock & the indie rock scene and love going to concerts. My biggest passion of all hobbies is traveling. Our fist trip with our baby sometime this year (destination To be Determined) will be my 20th country visited.

thats me
