Eastern Conference X- Pittsburgh X - Ottawa X - Carolina New York Rangers (with Sundin) Philadelphia Boston Montreal Washington --------------------- Buffalo Tampa Florida New Jersey Atlanta Toronto New York Islanders

Western Conference x - Detroit x - San Jose x - Edmonton Anaheim Dallas Chicago Phoenix Calgary ------------------ Columbus Nashville Minnesota Colorado St. Louis Vancouver LA
Detroit over Calgary San Jose over Phoenix Edmonton over CHicago Dallas over Anaheim
lets be realistic i would soo want an all canadian final myself. but edmonton and ottawa... not likely since ottawa will finally miss out on the playoffs... gerber will be a real let down this season.. and quite frankly i want to see a stanley cup final .... that will be exciting which is why i put san jose vs the new york rangers... and we will FINALLY see Roenick win his stanley cup and show us one more of his famous dance moves while he hoists the cup above him.
I dont think the Penguins will be the top seed this year, but I think they will beat Montreal in the conference finals.
Wings over Dallas or Anaheim in the West.
Pens beat Wings in 7 games, get revenge for last season, and I go burn a few cars down on the South Side in celebration.
And, Ottawa. Seriously? They were horrible last season, and didn't get any better this year.

I'll actually talk to Kirk if his prediction of the finals come true..
If his NFL predictions are any indication then EDM and OTT won't even make the playoffs.
EAST: NYR MTL WSH PHI PIT BUF NJ OTT ---- CAR BOS TB FLA TOR NYI ATL I'm not buying into the TB hype, and NJ is the most unpredictable team year in and year out. It's too hard to count out Brodeur, so I won't. PIT being without Gonchar and Whitney till at least December won't help, so I don't think they'll have the points to contend near the top this year. I really think NYR will surprise a lot of people this year and turn the corner to become an elite team in the East. WSH is a dangerous team, but their season rides on Theodore's performance. Spots 6-10 in the East were tough to select, and very easily could be turned on it's head (my way of trying to look smart if that were to happen)..
West: SJ DET CGY DAL ANA CHI PHX MIN ---- NSH VAN EDM CBJ COL STL LA
8-12 in the West is an absolute crapshoot. Each of them have strengths, but they also carry some evident weaknesses.
I think I'm buying into DAL or SJ this year for the cup. Give how hard it is to repeat, Im going to rule out on the PIT / DET bandwagon's for returning to the finals.

At the half way point and with this weeks poll I went searching for this thread.... nobody is a genious but my only glaring mistakes are TB and Edm in the playoffs.... both teams are terrible and should be looking for lottery picks and I under estimated Vancouver (who I still think will plummet)
have fun losing in first round again once playoff's come Luke..
oilers are so streaky it drives me insane.. they look like the can beat anybody one night then the next they suck.. the team needs to find AN identity and stick to it.. they play all out forecheck one period then they float for one then try for half a period then float.. its brutalllll right now.. the good thing is they have player ****ty all year except maybe 10-15 games and they are still battling for the playoffs IFF this team actually gets some consistancy they will go DEEP into the playoffs..
