Hello everyone, consider this a state of the union address for both leagues at once. I will differentiate between the two when necessary.
Weve pretty much wrapped up successful off-season in both leagues, and are set for another fantastic year in both leagues. The BRHL2 Cash league is starting season 3 as George Bachul and David Yee prepare to defend their title in Chicago. Will Kirk in Atlanta, Luke in Buffalo, or John in San Jose be able dethrone them? Time will tell. The BRHL is entering its 9th season, and George Bachul (wow déjà vu) will defend his title in New Jersey. Will Jordans Senators be able to dethrone him in the East? Will Minnesota get back to the championship after a down year? Or will Cals Sharks finally climb that hump and win something? Storylines galore in both leagues as the new season is upon us.
Activity in both leagues is super strong, and we have the two best day-to-day commishs anywhere with Ken and Eric. On behalf of everyone in both leagues, I would like to say thank you to both of them for their continued dedication, and for being the glue to the BRHL Community.
Now time for the breaking news!!
Effective right after the cup finals of our upcoming season, we will no longer be using the FHL simulator, but will be switching over to the STHS sim http://sths.simont.info/
After talking to some GMs and spending a lot of time researching the sim, and playing around with it, I am 100% convinced that is a much better system and will give commishs and GMs the ability to experience the BRHL like never before. I am in the process of running a bunch of test sims and adjusting settings to get as realistic simming results as possible, once I have decided on how to make it work, I will be posting what stats affect which ratings, in order to give you all the best chance to build your teams.
Also, I will be expanding the ratings this season to include all AHL players who played at least 15 AHL games. For the BRHL2, they will be created onto your rosters from the prospect lists if they play 15 AHL games or 1 NHL game. Ken will be making the determination for the BRHL.
This gives you all a full year to plan your rosters, and adjust your squads accordingly. The sim also lets us hide the OV for the players which I have long been a proponent of, as OV is the worst way to evaluate a team. For the BRHL2 regarding tagging, we will still have a system, though it will have to be modified with the lack of OV, we are looking at alternate ways to do it, and will have an announcement up ASAP.
Once I have the sim played with, and satisfactory to our league, I will send out an email to everyone with league files, so you can play with them, and will post some of the test season results.
I hope you are all as excited as I am about the new sim, I think it will be great for both leagues.
I think we should make a STHS Q&A Board for both leagues where those of us who know nothing of the STHS and post questions to be answered by those of you who know something.
