Because the ELC range from 475k to 850k here's wht I propose to do, some constructive critques are necessary so I can begin this ASAP.
What I want to do is go through each team, I will determine the contract for each ELC at the default 3 years. We can input the contracts I assign, cutting way down on the time and hassle that it causes. If you have an issue with a contract of yours, email it to me with your reasoning, and we'll look at it that way.
If a player is older hi contract length may be varied. For instance I drafted Jeff Finger, so if he signs a 2 or 3 year deal he is UFA at the end of it. Now a 5 year deal @ 850k wouldn't be fair either, so he will sign a 1 year deal, thereby being RFA at the end of it and giving the team that owns him, some control of him for a longer duration (granted his NHl deal sucks).
i'm wondering if we should even cap the contracts at 850k anymore? i mean with bonus, some rookies are making over 3 mill... since we can't have bonuses, why not lift the max ELC at 1.5-1.75 million?

That is what I brought up to the BOD. Why should guys get Kane and Gagner at such a generous cap hit, while guys have to squeeze to fit in the Heatleys and Luongos of the world?

i mean, in the BRHL for those of you not in it, the cap for rookies is 1.5 mill, and that is with a 42 million dollar cap... david perron (still a young player with some to learn is getting 900k in that league, more than stars like toews and others are getting in this one....
As a team with a ton of young prospects, I would clearly be impacted by this. However, I would support this fully as I believe it is best for the league. I mean, if we are going to be based on the NHL cap, shouldn't we also use their min and max salaries too?

mueller-price-perron have me scared to fit under cap again LOL.. but i am 100% for this witha a cap at like 1.25 (make it incentive wise for top 10 picks setting 50pt brhl rookie pt pushing it up to 1.5 for the last two yrs of elc..or something.. possibility.
picked 1-2OV 1.3 mill 3 yr elc. (if hit 50 points in rookie year brhl2. it goes to 1.75 for final 2 yrs.) picked 3-4-5 OV - 1.2 million 3 yr elc (if hit 50 points in rookie year brhl2. it goes to 1.6 for final 2 yrs.) picked 6-7-8 OV- 1.1 mill 3 yr elc (if hit 50 points in rookie year brhl2. it goes to 1.5 for final 2 yrs.) picked 9-10-11-12 OV 1 mill 3 yr elc (if hit 50 points in rookie year brhl2. it goes to 1.3 for final 2 yrs. after top 12 i think old elc rules should apply just an idea..
I don't think the draft position should have anything to do with what they are paid...

Performance bonuses are hard to track I think if it is different across the board... and it's really a pain to try to work them into the cap system - if they don't effect the cap, what's the point?
I think we should have a few GM's act as ELC agents and we can have teams negotiate contracts for their guys. We can set out a framework based on draft position but it'll be up to the GM and the Agent to determine if the player deserves that exact amount, a little more, or a little less...
We could also just have Bryce come up with all of them and we give each team two contestions (which can only be used on their OWN players) to contest if they think their guy is getting overpaid...
There has to be some balance. You can't just look at draft position, etc.
But here are some numbers...
Player NHL CAP HIT BRHL CAP HIT Malkin $3.84 million $984K Kane $3.75 million $475K Gagner $1.625 million $450K Kessel $2.200 million $850K
And that will go on and on. I don't know exactly what the solution is, but no reason a guy should be able to get that huge cap relief for three years. I would suggest that our ELC for certain players might only be for one year to determine salary value. Then you could use their OV and NHL cap hit in the calculator.....
**Kane and Gagner haven't been given new deals yet, thats just what the sime inputted**
Even if they get 850K, it wouldn't make a difference to the point.....I think we need to grandfather something in. Guys signed now are signed. We might even consider starting with my one year contract idea with guys that are signed this year.
